The shame of all of this is both parties have sunk so deep in the muck that it’s actually killing our country. Nothing ever gets done in congress anymore, no bipartisan solutions. Who suffers, us the American people.

It’s seems that the politicians want to divide us on purpose. If you don’t agree with the far left they don’t or won’t discuss anything with you. The far right just screams louder how “woke” you are if you don’t agree with them.

The only way to solve issues is everyone must sit down and listen to each other then come to agreement in a partisan way. That’s the American way.

And one thing leave religion out of the discussion. It’s in the constitution.

Yes, not to sound like a hair on fire liberal, LOL, but pining for the good old days, like 3 years ago when Sleepy Joe got quite a number of very bipartisan bills passed through Congress. Infrastructure bill that Orange talked a lot about but never did anything, and the CHIPS act which actually DID bring private investment and a chip plant to Ohio. Set up several other investments which Orange is taking credit for. LOL
The afore mentioned immigration bill that Lankford and Britt wrote, vilified and killed by Orange so he had the border to run on.

There were others as well. Quite a few legislative accomplishments that had bipartisan support.

When you actually try to meet in the middle you can get things done.

Collecting tax revenue that is due is like half the equation.
Most of MAGA and virtually every working stiff and pensioner has taxes withheld from their paychecks or benefit checks. The IRS HAS their $$. They have nothing to fear from the IRS, most use turbo tax and it walks them through. Hardly anyone itemizes because it isn't worth it so the opportunity to cheat is nonexistant.

However, self employed or the filthy rich are on the "honor" system. If they have no fear of audit or don't actually get audited once in a while, look out!!! I’ll add this too, and this isn’t gaslighting the right, those on the left are FAR more likely to call out lies and call bs. I want to avoid calling people uneducated but it’s pretty clear that those with higher education levels lean left. Polls and election results show that, and in general you’ll have a harder time getting crap like past the base on the left.

It’s pretty obvious that to take at face value a lot of things trump and MAGA put forth you have to lack some critical thinking skills. If Biden started going off about someone that was 180

Some of these people act like this is a conscious choice, like a kid wakes up one morning and says, Gee, I think I'll be gay!
Doesn't work that way.
There have been gay folks for centuries. They have been demonized, persecuted, and discriminated against.

My advice to them? Run a white guy you want to have a beer with and is well spoken. I'm so dead ass serious. I think it's genuinely that simple with the American electorate.

Preferably from a swing state. Preferably a governor that has a great record against crime. Hopefully he's funny too. And in no way involved with the Biden Administration

And make sure his veep is a man too who fills in whatever crack the main guy has be in foreign policy, border stuff, connection to a particular voting block you need, and again preferably from a swing state and again no crossover with the Biden White House. If you take a governor for the presidency get a senator who is a ranking committee member in the weak spot.

I really am not trying to be sexist nor racist. But white women have no proven in back to back elections where one has run that they are not swinging the vote in a woman's favor. Black women will never break from the democratic party. Hispanic people just got burnt so bad they're blue for a cycle or two.

I really feel bad for gay people who who want to have and live essentially a normal life. As someone said "what do you care who sleeps with who?" Totally agree with that. Totally. Fine with gay marriage. I mean if it helps people take care of each other and with a 50% divorce rate in hetero marriage how can it be worse. But the LGBQ community has become hijacked by almost militant groups. I am not going to get into the Norm MacDonald parody of pride parades, it is one thing to celebrate, now they seem to have crossed lines and are designed to offend. Again, feel bad for gay professionals who get tagged with this. Then the trans stuff....well I am sorry alot of this is mental illness. But it is the sexualization of young kids that has caused the Republicans to come out strongly against this community. If I would take 5 year olds to strip clubs and other hetero centered activities, I would be arrested and my child be taken away from me. This is where lines are crossed. First off, little children shouldn't be taught anything except how to have fun and play and let them go and figure things out. Second, and this is bizarre, it seems "cool" now for parents to have a gay kid or one who is transitioning. It has become Kabuki theatre for Hollywood types. Fine with gay marriage. I mean if it helps people take care of each other and with a 50% divorce rate in hetero marriage how can it be worse. But the LGBQ community has become hijacked by almost militant groups. I am not going to get into the Norm MacDonald parody of pride parades, it is one thing to celebrate, now they seem to have crossed lines and are designed to offend. Again, feel bad for gay professionals who get tagged with this. Then the trans stuff....well I am sorry alot of this is mental illness. But it is the sexualization of young kids that has caused the Republicans to come out strongly against this community. If I would take 5 year olds to strip clubs and other hetero centered activities, I would be arrested and my child be taken away from me. This is where lines are crossed. First off, little children shouldn't be taught anything except how to have fun and play and let them go and figure things out. Second, and this is bizarre, it seems "cool" now for parents to have a gay kid or one who is transitioning. It has become Kabuki theatre for Hollywood types. I don't get how we got to this point aside from our inability as a legislature, judicial systems, to say "no" sometimes and stop some of the nonsense.

State and religion are to be separate. The framers of the constitution left England to get away from the church run monarchy. That’s why it is stated to keep religion and government separate. You can practice whatever religion you want but keep it separate.

Few sailed across the Atlantic Ocean so that they could create a community where everyone could worship a different religion. Virginia, if memory serves, was an Anglican State. People may recall Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists where he coined the term Separation of Church and State in order to help stop persecution of Baptists.

The First Amendment said that Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of religion. That just means that the national government via Congressional legislation couldn't require financial support for and/or adherence to the doctrines of a specific denomination. States could tax citizens to support a Church and some did. The First Amendment only applies to Congress.

I think the other concept you may be missing is the distinction between practicing a religion and agreeing with a moral or ethical code held by a religion. For example, I agree with the Christian teaching that theft should be criminalized. Therefore I vote for representatives who will pass laws to criminalize theft, which is a violation of someone's property rights.

Perhaps a more clear example would be outlawing adoption except for married heterosexual couples. There is no right to adopt. It's a privilege granted by the State. Your vote is cast based on whatever belief you hold. Just because your belief agrees with a teaching promoted by a particular religion, it does not invalidate that belief. Another person may vote the same way based on a non-religious philosophical teaching. The Constitution doesn't discriminate against legislation based on why people voted for it. We don't make voters take a religious test before we allow them in the voting booth.

I agree with you this country was based on Judeo Christian laws. A lot of our laws are based on some of the 10 commandments. Yes theft should be criminalized. I am not Christian but Judaism teaches the same thing. Actually in Judaism there are not 10 commandments but 616 commandments laws and ordinances that are to be followed. A lot of them don’t apply to today’s world. But the one thing that Judaism teaches us if anything is to know how to treat people.

Maybe we all need to look inward and treat others the way you want others to treat you. To me that means using common sense. But as you probably know that a lot of people just don’t have common sense and decency.
