Richland and Westmont played last night in the regular season finale. They are schools in Johnstown in the Laurel Highlands conference. The LH has a mini four team conference tournament beginning tonight. Westmont was already locked in. Richland needed to win to get the fourth seed.
Richland won last night but had to forfeit this morning. The Richland HC was hit with 2 technicals during the JV game and then proceeded to coach the varsity game, which by rule is illegal.
Westmont leapfrogged Richland in the district playoff standings because of the forfeit and Richland lost its spot in the conference tournament. The league called another school this morning and alerted them that they are the four seed and play tonight.
So of all the weird/dumb things I’ve seen at the HS level, this has to be one of the dumbest I’ve come across.
