Funny how media narratives drive public opinion. One is an MVP and the other is a washed up loser.

I was going to vet it. But it is the NFL on CBS account so unlike politics, I can assume CBS is being truthful.
Either way its meaningless, Steelers fans were posting a meme where Fields had better stats than Mahomes over a period of games but so what? :)

Enough of a difference for one to be chastised and the other one salivated over?

Well first of all, if you are talking about one being an MVP candidate and one being washed up, what does what happened in 2020 have anything to do with that? Or as far as being an MVP candidate, what do any years before this season have to do with it?

Secondly, one of them has averaged 7.4 yards per pass and 5.0 yards per rush over that time period, and the other averages 7.7 yards per pass and 6.1 yards per rush. One of those is better than the other. Guess which is which?

Russell Wilson was really good in 2020. What does that have to do with how good he is in 2024?

Lamar has continued to get better and better.
But he’ll only be judged by post season from now on.

Lamar is looking at his third MVP and back to back. He's the best QB in the league right now. As Souf mentioned, he's getting better and better every year. If the OC can stay true to their identity in the playoffs - they are going to be a problem.

i can honestly say i've been pleasantly surprised by both Wilson and Fields this year. both have different strengths but both have played better than i expected.

i know we are going into the 2nd half of our schedule, one being much tougher so this post could age poorly but so far, kudos to Tomlin and Khan the accountant...

Lamar is MVP and MVP candidate because of his phenomenal running ability. Not his passing skills. End of story.
That's an old outdated narrative - the numbers don't lie.

I was about to say. I think Steelers fans tend to think he’s overrated because he usually doesn’t play well against them but the fact is the guy is one of the best QBs in the league and a truly dynamic player.

That's a very recent development in his career. He's had two pretty good seasons in a row throwing the ball. Well, last year and this year, so far. Prior to that, he needed his legs to be successful.
Because they has a Woody Hayes clone running the offense.

Maybe but nobody needed stats to see how woefully inaccurate he's been at times. I'll say that Flowers has been a nice addition. Playmaker who can adjust on some poorly thrown balls. That helps.
He's completing close to 70 percent of his passes so he's not throwing too many inaccurate passes.

Zay Flowers is pretty good. Jurkovec put up good numbers throwing to him.

Right, which is different than most of his career up until last season.
When they finally invested in an OC and some receivers with pro passing concepts. I think people forget how good of a passer he was at Louisville.

The 57% completion percentage sort of goes to what I was saying (59% his senior year). Accuracy has always been the knock on him but like I keep saying, he seems to have improved in that regard.
