OT: Stillers

but we cant fire him because he'll get a job with someone else quickly after. that's seriously the argument some fans make..
Notice they are quiet right now. Let him go and let him win elsewhere. Doesn’t mean Rooney didn’t waste the last several years here.

The difference (well one of the big differences) between father and son (Dan and ArtII) is there is no way Dan would accept this mediocrity. He would perhaps not fire Tomlin, but he would have made him clean his coaching staff a few years ago and not hire subordinates, but hire legit coaching talent. Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher had extensive coaching trees where assistants were promoted into head coaching roles in College and Pro. Tomlin has coached almost as long as Noll, and he has absolutely ZERO coaching tree branches. ZERO. There is no bigger indictment of Tomlin than that. Arians was a carryover from Cowher's staff and they managed to run him off. Tomlin maybe a smart guy, William and Mary ain't for chumps, but he has an obviously oversized ego and seems like he has to be the smartest guy in the room and doesn't hire guys would challenge him.

Nah. You're lucking out, which is good for the mediocre mike folks. Texans are cooked without Diggs and Dell. Quite beatable.
Don’t be so sure. All it would take is the Chargers beating the Raiders and the Steelers losing to the Bengals next Sunday, and then we’re playing at the Ravens. The way the two teams are playing, that’s a likely scenario.
We all know what will happen if we play at the Ravens in the 1st round of the playoffs.
Probably at least a two touchdown win for the Ravens in a game that the Steelers fall behind a bunch early and never look like they have a chance.

Dan owned a team that went 26 years between championships. I never thought I’d see a poem as lovely as a coaching tree.

For as impressive as Tomlin is as a leader off the field,
Other than his players liking him what other impressive leadership skills has he exhibited off the field Not trying to be a smart ass just wondering if I missed something

He’s a motivational and inspirational guy. Great with life lessons. Not gonna cite examples, but hearing guys like Ryan Clark and other current and former players…I just happen to think the guy is a good leader based on things I’ve heard. It’s on display during hard knocks too. And I think he’s a good person. He’s just not as good with personnel decisions and on the field decisions. And that’s why he’s not a bad coach or a great coach and why he’s somewhere in between.

I agree with this sentiment. I also think he is a good motivator and is able to get his guys to buy into toughness/next man up when a game needs it. We have been very succesful against Baltimore the last few years.

However, you can only pull that lever so many times in a season. It's why we have so many WTF losses against crap teams over the years and a seemingly endless run of ass kickings against truly good teams who just go about their business beating the Steelers.
