OT: The forgotten PENS

Listening on the radio, Bourque is not doing it for some reason. Yikes, it's like listening to a high school broadcast.
The days of Mike Lange are a distant memory.
Days of great Pittsburgh announcers (Bob Prince, Myron Cope, Bill Hillgrove and Mike Lange) are sorely missed and listening to Joe Block and Josh Getzoff is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Bourque and Mears are pretty good together on the radio broadcasts.

Win 2 of final 3 and have Caps and Wings lose 1 more each and Pens are in.
Still won't be easy.

Would be nice.
Caps beating the Wings the other day was big.
No doubt Bunting, Ned and the young D have given this team a jolt. It was stale.
Still have to finish, Bruins sat night primetime on ABC . Final game against the Islanders may be meaningless for them.
The Pens have to stop giving up those last minute end of period goals. They did it twice last night, and it is kind of a habit for this team. It ain't over until the horn sounds!

Karlson came here with the reputation of being strictly an offensive defenseman. No surprise that he brain farts on occasion. Problem is with him this year, the offense hasn't shown up too much to date either.

Who had Carter and Karlson being tied with 10 goals apiece on their bingo card??

No way, NO WAY, the Pens win these games with Jarry in net. He shrivels like a week old rose in these situations.

Let's hope Ned has enough in the tank to keep going. He wasn't as sharp last night, but he didn't get very much help in crucial situations either.

Great shortie last night. Once again the Pens PP was lacking. They could have put a stake in the Wings late in the third with a PP goal, but hardly got a decent shot on goal.

This game was good in they won, but it would have been much better to win in regulation and keep the Wings from getting the point. 3 big ones to go, and they'll need a better effort and smarter play to succeed in those.
Hopefully the other teams in the race also feel the heat and start making mistakes of their own.

Fun way to end a season most of us had written off a month ago.
Get in, and see what happens. All we can ask for now!

The playoffs have obviously started for the Penguins. Wow. Karlsson and Letang giveth and taketh away. Sid was stupendous, could have had 4 goals.

Love Lucas Raymond from Detwah. Smooth and quick player.

I think you got to give Ned a rest on Saturday. Unfortunately the Wings enticed the Pens into a track meet and they had more sprinters.

I look ahead to the playoffs and honestly, I would rather play the Rangers than the Canes. Better matchup for the Pens.

BRUINS vs PENS tonight (4/13/24) .... starting goalies confirmed .... Ullmark vs Nedeljkovic .... Ned will start tonight.

Still can't believe how impotent the Pittsburgh PP is.
Just pathetic with all the big time scorers available.
They rarely shoot!! No pressure.

0-0 end of the 1st period ..... both PP's 0/1 ....... Ullmark made some really good saves in the 1st period ..... Ned hanging in there well also ....... agree, it is so frustrating that the Pens PP is so bad and it is absolutely killing us this season ..... Bruins are keeping their point man in the diamond PK defense between Karlsson at the point and the bumper man (Bunting) ..... Karlson can't get a shot on goal or pass to the bumper man from the position in the mid point area where he is trying to operate...... they are going to have to find better angles to get shots from the point or to pass to the bumper man ...... I said that when the Pens changed their PP and looked better the last game (although they didn't score) that teams would look at film and adjust their PK.

Red Wings 4 Maple Leafs 4, end of 2nd period.

Bad rebound by Ned ..... 2-0 Bruins ..... not looking good.

Yeah, Reilly Smith has been a disappointment for sure.

Next goal is huge, Pens can't panic

Stick a fork in the birds. No playoff and far worse draft position. As I said the run was fools gold. This team is not good
I do not know about all that. I will say, one of the more interesting things here is that if they just had an average power play, they would easily be in the playoffs right now.

Penguins just allow Bruins players alone. They are wide open in Pens zone and unmolested. Free to pass to each other and fire away with no one on them

Jarry in now, look out below.

Ned needed some help. They gave Pasternak all day behind the net and let Shattenkirk a passing lane and left him wide open.
Bruins smothering the Pens but Pens avoid Bruin players like they have the plague!
Don't they understand how to play this game???
Maybe the old Pens have dementia??
