Pitt landed at #43 out of 1,500 schools in the world, and 25th in the US (10th "public" US). This is a different methodology than the US News Best Colleges Rankings which focuses on undergrad and had Pitt rank #58 among US universities (19th "public"), while this ranking focuses more on research metrics and international reputation.

Here's the US top 25 in the US News Word Rankings:
1. Harvard
2. MIT
3. Stanford

Also, the new Center for Measuring University Performance publication is out (dated 2019, but published 2020) which lists US universities by the total number of measures (both undergrad and research) falling among the top 25 and 50 of peers.

Pitt places tied for 28th overall and the 13th "public." One of the only two measures to fall outside the public top 25: annual giving...the only one directly impacted by alumni, and it is trending worse compared to peers. Pitt pulls nearly 20% less than Rutgers, almost 3X less than UNC-Chapel Hill, and almost 11X less than Harvard.

Of note, Pitt has the 16th highest SAT scores among US public institutions, and this has generally has been trending up among peers.

wow great news for sure. This is pretty amazing honestly

Some thoughts reviewing that list. How about giving up for UW? Wow. 8th! Ahead most Ivy's.

Let's also give a shout to Edinboro, the Fightin' Scots come in at 30th!!

The ACC, B1G and Pac 12 are well represented. The majority of schools in those conferences are in the top 100.

The SEC and Big 12 not so much!

The Cal state school system also is well represented with UCLA, Cal Berkeley, Santa Cruz, San Francisco all in the top 100.
