Knight isn't in position to get any kind of head coaching job that's going to forward his career. Assistants at winning programs get offered head coaching jobs. The better the program the assistant comes from, the better the job he can get. No one is breaking down their doors to hire assistants from scrub schools. He might be able to get a D2, or NAIA job. That's not the path to take if you want to be a head coach in D1. You need to be spectacularly successful at those levels to draw D1 interest, and it won't be high level D1 interest either. Being an assistant at the P5 level is the best path to becoming a D1 head coach.Has he been offered one or even pursued by any teams?

He's getting experience at a Big 10 school, after having earned experience
at an ACC school, Pitt. I think he has a higher level assistant position at
Rutgers. If so, he's on the right track moving upwards. The best thing he
can do now is become an ace recruiter and make a name for himself in
that regard. He's home in N.J. where he has great contacts. there's a lot
of smaller D1 programs in that area.... the N.Y. metropolitan area. The
Fordahm's, Manhattan's, Iona's, St. Francis, St. Peter's, Wagner, LIU,
etc. etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of these, or schools like
these offer him in the next few years.
I love Brandin but I think his window has closed for landing any half way decent head coaching job

You really have to be in the right spot. Hard as it is to believe, Ashton Gibbs may be in a better spot to eventually land a gig than Brandin. The dead is being raised at Duquesne, and Ashton is on the staff there. All of the insiders know what a dead end that program's been, and if they end up having a great season, they're going to get lots of attention, and the guys on that staff are going to get on the radar of the lower level D1 schools. Rutgers is another dead end, but even though they're better, they have a much harder road in front of them. Who is going to hire Brandin if that staff gets the boot in a year or two? Maybe high school, or D3 would be in his future.Knight is in a dead end at Rutgers. He has to move on. Pikiell only has another year or 2 there before he's canned.

Because he hasn’t been offered one?and get some exp?
He's only 37. Bobby Hurley didn't even become an assistant at Wagner until he was 37.
And that could really boost the profile of Ashton. If they can do well over the next few years, he could land on a high profile staff, or even become the head coach at a lower level school. It really helps to be on the right staff. If the head coach is well respected, that helps even more. Would love to see Ashton become successful.Dambrot is kicking it.
