OT: Wonder how Jamie is?

I’ve never understood why people can’t see this or other topics both ways. Its possible to recognize that Dixon did an unbelievable job at Pitt while also acknowledging that he hasnt been very good at TCU.

Until the ACC, then he went to the crapper, and has stayed there

He had trouble late at Pitt because his ADs messed with it. Maybe they were jealous?
TCU support went down after the first 2 years, and he's had trouble keeping kids there.
I suspect they'll let him finish his contract and he'll retire. Meanwhile, we've had 5 years of garbage.
He had trouble late at Pitt because he wasn’t able to build on the equity he had built up through years of winning at an incredible rate. Recruiting lacked, he was disinterested and recruits and their families took notice.
His first year at TCU was good with the other coaches players and he's had trouble keeping kids there since.
I suspect they'll let him finish his contract and he'll retire. Meanwhile, we've had 8-9 years of garbage.

Fixed it for ya! Now how about that drink??

Yeah, those 3 NBA guys were awful. We may never be that good again.
It’s nice to have three NBA guys but We were a game away from missing the tourney with three NBA guys! Which, if we weren’t winning in the NCAA with high seeds and great character, what made anyone think we would with mediocre underperforming NBA guys with attitudes?

Not until you fix your "fix".

And that last group would have destroyed any of the 5 teams since then. And I'm thinking that won't change this year. Hope I'm wrong.

You’ve been riding on the malarkey bus!

That team had 3 more wins than this last team, while having 3 NBA players and playing 3 more league games! That’s not very impressive.

Agree with that, but having the right players is ultimately the responsibility of the head coach. If he doesn’t have them that is pretty much his own fault and no one else’s.

Comparing Dixon to Belichick is a bit much, one guy won 6 world championships in his sport and the other is the worst NCAA Tournament coach in history using advanced metrics.
Just showing that circumstances matter . I’m sure if Brady was in Clvd …….

The amount of disrespect Dixon gets in this website is wild. Dude was one of the best coaches in Pitt sports history and led the team into being a perennial tournament maker and constant top 25 team.

One of the best coaches in Pitt sport history? really? What's that tell you?

The program has really thrived in his absence !!!

You can always be that guy whose in the right place at the right time , but not for 10yrs .

I see him in the American Athletic Conference soon. Maybe a place like South Florida or East Carolina....and could do fairly well for a program like that, probably get them to the NCAAT.

Honestly though, I am not sure there's another coach out there who had such a strong start to their career but then backslid so significantly without NCAA sanctions
IDK, good question in terms of "clean" declines. But some of our local stories:

Paul Evans 119–60 at Navy, then 50 wins over his first two seasons at Pitt with two Sweet 16's to...becoming an assistant high school coach after being fired from Pitt. Basically got lazy with recruiting/couldn't connect with players/facilities didn't help.

Archie Miller 139-63 at Dayton with an elite eight, fired in four years at Indiana with 0 NCAA appearances and a 33-43 conference record. I know Indiana isn't what it used to be but an impressive failure at Indiana, may not get a decent job again.

John Thompson III's decline surprised me somewhat, especially after his final four team. I wonder if Dixon will get a player development NBA type job like JTIII has someday? Jamie knows how to coach up a player imho.

Why is telling it like it is disrespectful to him? This is a message board and this is what people do. No one is jumping in his face and telling him he hasn’t been relevant for 10 years. We can acknowledge that his time here was the best we’ve ever seen. And we can also acknowledge that the game has passed him by. It’s ok to say so.
I would agree that the game passed him on but I would also argue people go further than that and rag on him from his time at Pitt.
