Its going to be what I said. Geared to conservatives. Not a bad idea considering how unhappy some are with the NFL right now.
McMahon will be the sole funding source and won't have to answer to anyone. As the owner of all the teams, he makes the rules. He said no political statements, players will stand for the anthem, and no players with criminal records.
You want to play? Its conservatives' way or the highway. I really think this is a smart move. Another great idea by SMF. Vince must read this board.
The league will start in 2020 around the time we may have a new President. The games could be played on the new Trump TV Network. Fox News can hype up the games. Hannity as the pregame host. Roy Moore as a sideline reporter. I honestly think the timing is perfect for this.
Vince shut the door pretty quickly on Johnny Manziel when asked. No criminals!!! I love it. And when specifically asked about Kaepernick, he seemed conflicted, but open to it provided CK keeps politics out of it. And that's smart business. Whether you own a bakery in Indiana, or a restaurant in Berkeley...you don't alienate your customers. Any of them.

Yea, I mean if Kap agrees to just play football, why not? Vince is the owner. If a player does something he doesn't like, see ya. If I was Vince, I'd definitely sign Kap. I know I'd watch at least bis his first game.
And Tebow could be the face of this league.
As football has become politicized and the country as divided as ever along party lines, lableling the NFL as a liberal football league with the XFL being a conservative'd league will really work.....I think.

I have always thought the only way it could work was to compete against college not the nfl but with nfl ratings dropping maybe it can. Big thing is don't do stupid stuff like scrums for who get the ball. Just play fb
When in the history of sports have we had a "no criminal record" rule? Half the baseball players in the 1920s would have been kicked to the curb under that. I stand for the anthem, which includes supporting a country where people have a chance to turn their lives around.
Are criminals a protected class? I'm not being coy. I assume if VKM put it out there that they don't want criminals, then it's their right to not employee them.
First thing I would do is target all the dual threat QBs that the NFL has no interest in.

No, I think the point is that most conservatives are white. Most (not all) people have some racial views/opinions. Being that most football fans are white, this is the reason it would appeal to "conservatives" because any player who is doing things they dont like will get booted. And most players that do things they dont like are black. I would guess that most NFL arrests are from black players. The white audience would be more accepting of the arrests if most of the arrests were white players.

This new XFL is going to be going after a conservative/white audience for the reasons I mentioned and I think its a great idea. Think of watching a football game with an old relative complaining about first down celebrations, touchdown dances, players being arrested. The underlying reasons that upsets people are because the players are black.

I am white and I have relatives who hate Gronk because they feel he is too much of a show boat and they love Fritz because he is the exact opposite. Skin color has nothing to do with it, it is the behavior they don't like.
I agree to a point. There is nothing to say they can't create a name on their own. I know it was so long ago it may be apples and oranges at this point but the AFL had a name with Joe Namath. They do need to leave gimmicks to a minimum, as much as people loved the "He Hate Me" name you need to use real names, that is where the real start power is.

A league without guys like Ben Roethlisberger and Marc Pouncey is appealing to me. Unfortunately rape accusations and free Hernandez jerseys don't equate to criminal records. So You'll still have your thugs. Don't worry.

And obviously not all crimes are equal. Someone like Ray Rice I would not put in the same class as someone who was arrested for peacefully smoking a joint in a park.

VM is very intelligent. I am sure once he gets the results of the research he is conducting he will consider the gray areas on a case by case basis. Kind of in the same way that his bigger stars don’t get as punished if they violate the Wellness Policy.
