I hadn't heard about it until I saw the link posted in this thread. I have the same opinion as you do about the content.
That would be an interesting hire. I mean Molinari covered the Pens for the last few years as if he was already retired, but if he was willing to actually do some hard work again he might be a good hire. But if all they are going to get is what Molinari has been giving the PG the last couple of years then, eh, not so much.

My ex-gf is a Nitter and was friends with Sara. Her cleveage was about the only appealing trait about her. When I'd go up to State College to hang out with my ex for the weekend, Sara had a way of turning a good time into a miserable experience. She dated the editor of that dumb site onward State....and he was nothing to look at. I'd go deeper, but I want this post to stick. IMO, she's a lousy person. But, if you're truly interested, hit her up. You have a good chance.
Today Mark Kaboly announced that he is fleeing DK's sinking ship to take his Steeler coverage and the big money from The Athletic. The people that have lifetime subscriptions to DK must be pissed! All of the good writers have officially been poached.
It was out of line and unprofessional no matter what anyone thinks of Barnes or Stallings.
Is anyone following the new DK drama? One of his old hockey writers named Katie Brown is airing all of her dirty laundry with DK all over twitter. DK obviously must suck to work for, but this girl isn't going about this in the right way IMO. Who will want to hire her now?
The advice from the older guy is probably true, but still, DK handled the entire episode very very poorly. Can't believe that anybody would want to work for him. I am a subscriber, but also a subscriber to the Athletic, and I'm not renewing with DK.
Oh man, I have been following it. I wondered what happened, that they touted her coming from NHL.com site then as quickly as she came, she was gone. I think she was hot, at least cute, not that this had anything to do with it. But then I have been hearing some "stuff" and then it all just blew up.
It is friggin hilarious and has devolved into like the Jr High cheerleading squad. DK must be a dick to work for and even on his site he kind of admitted he is learning how to be a boss. Katie Brown's stuff is hilarious though. But DK was a dick to her.
I do like the site for its good hockey coverage and my god, no one skewers and slams the Bucs and that organization as well as Dejan Kovacevic. For that he gets good marks from me. I like it that is also independent, so none of the sports teams pull their strings. Audrey Snyder who covers PSU does an excellent job, I wish somewhere, some time there would be someone who could do that for Pitt (hello Joe Bendel).
Your options are limited if you are a sports journalist. Would you rather write about the Penguins for a jerk or cover high school girls basketball in Somerset County for a struggling newspaper?
The most surprising thing about this is that apparently there are still people out there who don't know that DK is a complete a-hole.

You’re correct. But those “discussions” shouldn’t be via text. I know the world is a little different these days but stuff like that should be handled in person. Period. On top of being an ahole he’s a friggin coward too.

If true then I'm very disappointed as a subscriber. I have been noticing that many of the most recent articles are stats oriented which is not what I signed up for. Part of it is growing pains and part of it not letting your employees to do the job you hired them to do.
I think the problem is he hired people who can’t do anything more than list stats. He wants people who know the game and she clearly does not.
He needs to get a real HR person who helps him interview and handle these tough situations. His wife clearly isn’t good enough.
She may or may not know the game, but he should have figured that out before he hired her. When he did hire her, she was OMG THE GREATEST THING EVER! WE ARE SO DAMNED LUCKY TO HAVE HER! SHE IS A STAR IN THE MAKING!

At any rate, that site has seen a significant bleeding of talent for some time now. Just about anybody worth reading has left.
It’s called reading a resume that says nhl.com and stopping right there. He needs to be able to dig into people during an interview, but my guess is, there is no interview.
Attractive woman, says she knows hockey, has nhl.com on her resume...with enough hype, that should get men to sign up.

DK was always one of my favorite writers in Pittsburgh and he eventually became too arrogant for my liking. Apparently he handles himself the same way--I suppose worse--as a boss. I agree that I expected worse from his text messages based on the tweet and reactions she was getting. It seems like a lot could have been solved from a productive sit down conversation instead of those texts.
As far as Lolley goes, he came in with some good advice, but then decided to respond to some people and is coming off as a clown who is not helping Dejan, who clearly wrote a small piece to try to clean up his image. Just as he is telling people not to air their complaints on twitter, he should have let his boss handle his own business.

Sure....but a lot of Pitt fans were thinking the same thing. He had the stones to say it - and yeah, even at the risk of sounding unprofessional (which he did).
Personally, I thought that the manner by which the hire went down was waaay more embarrassing to the university than DK’s question ever was. Most people have already forgotten DK’s question, but the stench of the hire lingers on and on.

If that's how he actually hired her then he is not only an a-hole, he's a moron as well.
Can you imagine anyone ever hiring someone to be a writer without ever reading anything that they wrote? How could anyone be that stupid? If we are to believe his account, then the two choices here are that he read her work before hiring here and he's a moron for hiring someone who obviously couldn't do the work, or he didn't read anything she wrote before he hired her, which means he's a moron for hiring a writer without actually knowing if they could write or not.
Either way, he's a moron.
