OT: “Ok Terry, try again. C-A-_”

Thomas Henderson won the lotto twice. He’s set for life. That’s a smart man.

I had beers with him in Austin a handful.of times. Not a grateful guy.
He was supposed to be sober forever. Turned his lifr
Around?!? Changed his persona? Oh well. Greatest drag ever.

I heard Terry speak at a corporate outing, 20 + years ago. He came off as a bitter, self absorbed whiner.

I thought it had gotten better with him, especially after Noll passed, but he still seems really bitter even now. It’s probably why they aren’t doing the 50th anniversary ceremony of the IR with both Harris and him. I’d imagine they would have approached him. I can also imagine he might have told them to F off.

Terry admitted that he brought his daughters with him when he was honored at Heinz Field in 2002, because he thought if his daughters were with him, the fans wouldn't boo him.

That is something he should and likely has sought an analyst about. He’s stayed intimately involved with the game, and he has to know the fans would be gaga over him. There’s nothing people like more than their old sports stars to cheer for. They forgive any transgressions, real or imagined. When Dave Parker was here for the Pirates HOF he got wild applause. I can’t say I blame TB for remembering the bad things from that early time (from 1975 onward I’m sure he never heard or read a bad word) but there was more good than bad. It’s a shame he can’t let that go, for his own sake.

Terry has admitted that he suffers from depression. That can cause a lot of issues - real or perceived.

Here's a quote from the 2002 Heinz Field celebration:

"It took me a while to get comfortable to come back," Bradshaw said before he joined the Steelers captains -- Jerome Bettis, Jason Gildon, Lee Flowers and John Fiala -- for the coin toss. "I was booed off the field. I never forgot about that. I got hurt. It was hard to forget that."

I can see that hurting for sure. Maybe it’s actually an impressive trait that his ego, or humility, or whatever doesn’t let him simply shake those things off. He certainly could look no further than at this current season; fans are coming down hard (too hard IMO) on the current Steeler QB. And weren’t all thrilled with BR either by the end of his tenure. Plus just about everywhere, great and even legendary QBs can point at games and seasons where fans gave them a hard time. Need some thick skin.

I know Terry has had some problems which have been well publicized. I also know that Terry could drop a dime in a bucket from 50 yards to Swann or Stallworth at the drop of a hat at any given time and that makes him OK by me. Give him an effin break already.

I actually agree, I regret that he can’t get past the very early slights. He definitely had some flaws as a QB, he’d quickly be driven nuts by the obsession they have against throwing picks today, but he could definitely cut it loose and once he had a couple receivers able to go after it like S&S, it made every game an adventure. Watching and emulating those teams and players out in the playgrounds were significant parts of my childhood years. I wish he felt better about his relationship with the team and make himself more available. As for the IR anniversary it would sure as hell make me happier to see and cheer Brad along with Franco vs. just the Cutout King alone. Can’t they bring in Frenchy? 😄

Nobody should have given a shit regardless of age .
People need to stop investing so much worship and then anger at athletes
They are only doing a job

Bradshaw deserves to go down in Steelers history as one of the all time greats. But he was a drama queen then, and he’s a drama queen now. It’s a personality trait that will never change.

I’ve always thought that Chuck Noll could’ve handled Bradshaw better. Noll prided himself on treating all of his players equally, but sometimes certain players need those extra “attaboy” comments for their ego. For Noll, that just wasn’t his style: he was honest - and frank - to a fault, and some players aren’t ready for that.

Noll’s comments (such as “some of you aren’t gonna be here next year”, and “getting on with your life’s work”) were too threatening and didn’t play well across the board. Paraphrasing the line from “A Few Good Men”, some people can’t handle the truth.
