When you get to the 4th round, drafting for need is useless if there isn't anyone good at that position. it never works...Sawyer is great value. He was rated as the number 58 prospect in the entire draft, and Pittsburgh got him at 123....
Yep. First thing Austin talked about were his intangibles. When that’s all you have, then what do you really have? Pickett detractors will tell you that. lol.I don't think these things are always on the money, but I don't love when a guy's motor is the best thing you can say about him.
Overview
Dense-framed, even-front defensive end whose game is built for power but not speed. He has short arms and slow power to neutralize and overcome run blocks. However, he lacks a quick-win first step or twitchy stack-and-shed move. He locates the football and racks up tackles when runners near his gaps. He’s a force-based rusher using strong hands, a relentless motor and a pocket-caving charge to run up pressure totals, but his rush lacks quickness. He could see more interior rush opportunities for shorter trips into the pocket. Sawyer is suited for box-based football, which could cap his pro ceiling, but his demeanor, toughness and activity level provide a higher floor.
Man, I can't help but to feel that the Steelers ****ed this up. They have so many picks next year that giving up a 4th next year to move up in and get the QB with the highest completion percentage in NCAA history just feels crazy when they need a QB.
yeah, but even if it doesn't work out they could have traded him in week 6 for a 6th or 7th round pick. Someone would have taken that. So then you lose a 4th and 5th round pick in return for a possible lottery ticket and a 6/7th round pick.Totally understand that take, but this franchise feels like it's at a bit of a crossroads and dangerously close to becoming a clown show. I can't fault them if he was off their board.
But he’ll be cheaperThis is funny to me. They don't pick up Najee's option and then draft another RB who is Najee-lite.
I know you watch college fb. #33 lined up against tackles and TE’s that are/were pro rated. Curious how you have doubts about holding edges. What Oregon or Michigan or PSU OL swallowed him whole? I think he’s a baller at any level.I don't hate the pick, but I might have went DL, DB, or WR. Seems like another pass rushing specialist, a la Herbig, as I doubt he's going to hold the edge at the next level.
Why. He has to compete to win the job. As long as he gets a fair shot he has nothing to complain about.Pickett has to be pissed how the Browns' franchise lied to him. They added Flacco, Gabriel, and Sanders.
Yeah he seemed pretty productive and an instinctive playerI know you watch college fb. #33 lined up against tackles and TE’s that are/were pro rated. Curious how you have doubts about holding edges. What Oregon or Michigan or PSU OL swallowed him whole? I think he’s a baller at any level.

He’s not going to. I don’t think it will end well for him there. There just isn’t enough reps to go around. I think him and sanders get the lions share, and then the browns have to decide fast who they want to commit to. Lots of pressure for Deion Jr to get those reps. Nobody there wants Kenny. He has no gravitas after what happened in Pittsburgh.Why. He has to compete to win the job. As long as he gets a fair shot he has nothing to complain about.
So you think Sanders gets more share than Gabriel? I’m not saying you’re wrong, it’s just a bazaar situation. He’s not going to. I don’t think it will end well for him there. That’s a head scratcher. Who knows. So you think Sanders gets more share than Gabriel? I’m not saying you’re wrong, it’s just a bazaar situation.
Should have never signed fields instead of holding onto KennyWouldn’t it be crazy if the Browns cut Pickett and the Steelers resigned him. LOL
Ya think they may have watched the Super Bowl? Front 7 draft.Clearly after getting gashed by rushers , stillers loading up with big run stuffers
You aware that’s from 2018?
Love this pick.
So instead we paid Jaylen Warren $5mil up from $897k last yearNajee's option was almost $7 million. Caleb Johnson will make less than that over the entire 4 years of his rookie contract.
People love drama , even imaginary dramaYou aware that’s from 2018?
Perhaps something went over my head but a 7 year old tweet doesn’t seem like much.
Was thinking the same thing. They are building up the rest of the team before they get their Qb. Still think they should have traded Minka and TJ Clearly with the Qb situation as it stands now they are not contenders next year.Ya think they may have watched the Super Bowl? Front 7 draft.
Well watt is UFA after the seasonWas thinking the same thing. They are building up the rest of the team before they get their Qb. Still think they should have traded Minka and TJ Clearly with the Qb situation as it stands now they are not contenders next year.
Warren has a higher ceiling, Najee is too slow out of the gate.So instead we paid Jaylen Warren $5mil up from $897k last year
And gainwell for $1.7mil
Pickett has to be pissed how the Browns' franchise lied to him. They added Flacco, Gabriel, and Sanders.
Warren is on a 1 year deal then UFA in 2026.Warren has a higher ceiling, Najee is too slow out of the gate.
Just see it as ironic. You aware that’s from 2018?
Perhaps something went over my head but a 7 year old tweet doesn’t seem like much.
It looks like some sort of DEI experiment.Browns QB situation has officially entered "Well, maybe if we throw enough shit at the wall" mode.
What do you think DEI is ?It looks like some sort of DEI experiment.
Strawman alert.Warren is on a 1 year deal then UFA in 2026.
Clearly stillers don’t agree hence drafting another RB for the future
It looks like some sort of DEI experiment.
What is the stawman?Strawman alert.
Well one was a decision made almost a year ago, with the information available at the time. A decision that apparently was correct because Najee ended up signing a 1-year deal for $1.6 million less than his option was.So instead we paid Jaylen Warren $5mil up from $897k last year
And gainwell for $1.7mil
How does being on a 1 year contract take away from having higher ceiling? Does it prohibit them from resigning him? What is the stawman?
The fact Warren is on a 1 year contract and UFA in 2026?
Root for the Jags to have a good year so that their #1 isn’t as high.A 3rd and two 5ths this year on quarterbacks is almost amazing. I would put the odds of them taking a QB in the first next year at about 100%.
