I voted 4-8
Don’t see the offense being any better and the defense being worse

4-8 is about where I'm at. We're absolutely not better than a team like Syracuse, for instance, which I'm sure many Pitt fans are thinking will be a "show up and win" type of deal.

I was at 6-6 before we basically lost our entire defensive line. I still think that's achievable with some breaks here and there, but 4-8 or 5-7 seems more realistic at this point. I'm not going to let fans talk me out of it this year. This offense is going to be PAINFUL to watch. Follow the tea leaves; there just isn't much talent.

And I'm high on our back 7 on defense, but our d-line will be every bit as bad as the worst of what we've put there since about 1970.

I went 3-9. Narduzzis defense gets killed without a good front 4. We had a bunch of NFL DBs in 2015-2017 that got burned every game in this scheme because we didn't get enough pressure. This year will be a repeat of that, minus having NFL talent on offense to win games.

Did you watch the games last season? PJ started the 1st 5 games, CV started the net 5 games and NY started the last 2 games.

PJ could not actually throw a football
CV was a turnover machine
NY did fairly well

Until defenses figure out his tendency with rolling right.

He also takes some chances in the middle of the field. It's refreshing in some ways, but I could see it being a problem once defenses actually game plan for it.

Well, isn't this thread typical. Nearly 1/3 of the poll has projected a record of 7-5 or better. But none of them have commented. The only comments are from the masters of doom. I can only assume that others don't want to be talked down to by the doomsters who dominate this board.

I projected 8-4.

I went 6-6 because I don’t have a clue on what to expect.
New offense +++++++++
New OC+++++++
Defense??????????
We will win a couple we shouldn’t, and lose a couple we should have won.
Same old Pitt. New cast of characters.
O line is the key. If they are good, we will have a winning record.

While its possible that this team overperforms, I cant remember the last time I had such low expectations going into a season. Has to be Majors 2 because even early Walt, there was some excitement that we'd be better.

I am a big HCPN fan, but while I can't bring myself to call it, this is what I am preparing myself for.

I don’t think it’s a bowl team. Just don’t see nearly enough talent across the board, I’m pretty skeptical on the offense (better than Cignetti, but still solidly below average) and the defense has just been gutted without too many clear replacements. I think it’s going to be a tough year with some difficult questions ahead.

My expectations were pretty low going into 2017. I knew we had talent, but I also knew it was young.

I felt similarly last year and knew it was a transition season, but I thought we would at least go 6-6 or 7-5 if Jurkovec could be better than the highlights I was watching.

This season is different. I've not been this down on the program in a long time. We're broke. If someone flashes too much, he's gone. I could see myself checking out of college football the way I did with Pitt basketball for five years. I'm not going to watch a team continue to try and crawl out of a 50-foot well.

Getting into specifics of this season, I'm shocked we couldn't do better than Holstein. We needed a starter, not a backup, to be our big QB acquisition. Some of those guys aren't as expensive as you'd think, because their chances to audition for the NFL are limited. I also thought we needed to add some d linemen... before we lost three starters. Now, what was a weak unit is considerably weaker, and that isn't going to bode well. CB may also be an adventure, as may receiver be. Just not a good team.

I predicted 4-8 just because of the losses on defense and a total lack of any kind of offense. We'll win some cupcakes we should win, but now we're the cupcake others will be beating up on more often than we are the beater. That's just reality.

It will be one of those seasons for me where I'll miss more games than I'll attend because I don't want to waste half a day watching this futility. I don't think I'll be alone.

His numbers were good but you probably knew that
If by “good “ you mean sub sub 60% in his win .
His best game was the Duke game and his QBR was 56.6

Being better than a QB who couldn’t throw (and moved to TE) and another who had zero touch or accuracy - doesn’t make him good .

I already stated it in this thread. I guess this proves that you don't actually read threads before spewing nonsense.

Yeah, usually if I see the name "NCPitt" attached to it I treat it like I would a National Enquirer headline. Apologies for that.

We do not have the experienced depth we normally have.

I expect the offense to be fine.

On defense, we need the young and very young to come through.

I would like an experienced punter over Junko.

I expect 7-5

Yep. Yet my prediction is just as valid as yours ... since sitting on my couch and on my wallet has no bearing on the topic.

You seem to be jealous.
Why would I be jealous of your lack of support for the program and coach you claim to back ?

He's the worst. Its as if he has no understanding of sports. I'm not sure he is actually a sports fan but if he's not, I dont understand why he posts here. He's a hard guy to figure out.
