Parents brawl at kids baseball game

You dont even need refs/umps at this age, they are babies playing baseball.
Obviously you do or this happens. A 13 year old ref / ump is equivalent of no umpire.

How about the coach batting out of order. I put the blame where it belongs.

We dont have umps for that age in our league. The coaches just call the kids safe or out. Its kindergarten and 1st grade kids playing baseball. Half the kids cant even catch the ball. This is so pathetic. I'd put all those parents in jail for 10 years.

I know SMF, I’m just messing around.

Beyond pathetic and criminal. Is it really hard to identify the people. Cops are having a hard time. They are parents. No one but parents go to these so it’s someones dad.

if this ever happened at my kids' sporting events, i'd grab my child and immediately leave..

The big problem with these is other parents (usually the loud mouth mom) goes on field and tries to be a hero and they start yelling and all that does is add fuel to the fire. I bet 99% of this is between two people and then other parents go on field, trying to be peacemaker but too emotional to do it right so they start yelling and next thing you know, you have 20 parents all screaming and yelling..

FOllow my advice, grab child and go to car and drive away. DONT pull out cell phone and video it, DONT try to be peacemaker hero, DO Leave immediately..

I give you guys gold every day..

Even better. Stay home in the first place.

You can all say this is wrong, but the difference is that your kid isn't the next Clayton Kershaw. If he was, you wouldn't let some pimple-faced kid ump give away the corners of the plate and make him run up his pitch count to strike out a bunch of jabronies that are destined to wash out in pony ball.

coach should seriously get some blame here. letting a kid bat out of order is tough to pass off as a mistake. you got your batting order up, every kid knows when his turn is up, you bat behind the same player. Billy is up, he strikes out, now you are up. you don't have to be a professional statistician to know ths.

Coach probably tried to pull a fast one, parents got pissed, all hell broke loose..

Correct. The coach shares some blame. When the other team sent a better out of order he should have immediately had his pitch drill that batter in the ribs. That would have taught them all a message about what happens when you break the unwritten rules, or in this case, actually a written rule of baseball. When he didn't the parent had to take matters into his own hands.

Never too young to learn the unwritten rules of baseball.

Any of these kids do a bat flip after a HR or watch their hr a little too long at the plate, I expect the same results.

Quit using kids as refs. That’s 90% of the problem.
Really? 90%. Do you really think those ***holes brawled because it was a kid making the call? C'mon man. This is all on the parents. It isn't about the kids to them. it's about their egos. What life lessons do adults teach kids today? If something doesn't go your way, punch someone.

No, I don’t think that. I do think having kids ref games is a bad idea but no, these parents are jack holes regardless.

A kid acting as an ump or any kind of official is asking for trouble in any league that is competitive. There aren't many 13 year olds that can handle an aggressive adult in that situation. No idea why a bunch of 7 year old kids are playing in anything but an instructional league but if they are playing for the championship of the world, give $40 to an adult who's experienced and can handle a bunch of jagoff coaches and fans.

The coaches who tried to cheat are to blame. The umpire should not have to worry about carrying a score card to record changes at this level. The kid should not get drilled with a fast ball either because he probably doesn’t even know the rules.

I played youth baseball. was always excited about going to bat. even as young as seven, I knew exactly when I was up, who I followed in the lineup.. Cant for a second believe this was unintentional or an accident..

with that said, cant possibly imagine why a parent would be this upset.. kid tried to cheat, 13 year old ref caught him. great, that's it, end of story. why the anger? I can see a parent going up to the coach after the game and saying to him "That was a BS move, don't do it again" but to interrupt a game, I don't get it.. if it was the dad of the player who tried to cheat then why is he mad at the ref? His son got caught, that's what happens..

this should have been a parent to coach confrontation after the game. if it escalates then so be it..

The only parent who should be upset is the parent of the kid that the coach wanted to skip in the lineup. But that still wouldn't make a brawl acceptable. You tell the guy he's a POS on the way out and your kid is done for the summer.

I played baseball like every other kid. At that age I was more concerned about if my stirrups were on right and if we were getting ice cream after the game.

Lol, I was always really concerned about my stirrups too. Dang things had to be perfect. Rest of the uniform I could have cared less about but those stirrups.

Back in my Little League days we played at two different fields, one the bleachers were in deep dead center field and the other they were right behind home plate, guess which one rarely had an incident.

I helped my brother in law coach my nephew's team, the other coaches and parents were nuts! Even at the T-Ball and Coach Pitch level there were coaches who did bs like bat out of order so their best kid could bat again or have them steal bases. Yes stealing bases in T-Ball! It wasn't allowed but the umps were either teenagers who were scared or this really old guy who was clueless on what was going on.

Adult, trained, paid, umpires have the ability and do throw unruly parents out of the stands, coaches out of the game and control the atmosphere of the game.

I was at one Little League game in a neighboring township when the umpire requested that the President of the Local Little League clear the stands or the game will be ended.

He did. All the parents left the stands, went to their cars, and waited for their kids in the parking lot.

If a program can't fund umpires they shouldn't run an organized Little League baseball game.

This game with the 13 yr old umpire could almost be called Sandlot baseball which is fine.

my kids are in soccer, very laid back league, in a good way. none of this parent crap at all, never once seen any kind of incident. but the refs are like 5th and 6th graders and they are soo timid so when they make a call, it's so quiet that no one can hear and they blow their whistles and no one hears. they are scared to be loud enough for anyone to hear or unsure of themselves. basically, they are 12 year olds..

the coaches have to basically jump in and help make the right call or tell the kids who's throw in it is. we pay 250 bucks for each kid, you'd think they could find some 15 or 16 year olds to ref. really weird. no parents yell, I mean you cant yell at a 12 year old ref, you'd be ostracized and deservedly so..

they should get the high school JV or freshmen soccer players to ref and then use the money for the programs. they got every high school team pan handling in front of wal mart and giant eagle every Saturday morning, begging for change so they can have uniforms and pay the bus driver for a ride to away games, how bout have the players ref games. better money, they are old enough, obviously know the rules and the money will stay in the community..

Gee, another great idea I give on here, where'd we all see this before?

In our community and the surrounding area youth football, wrestling, basketball, and baseball all must have official certified adult officials, all whom have passed background checks, just like the coaches, and other volunteers, officiating games or matches.

Most of the youth officials also officiate MS sports events looking to move to HS events where they make more money.

It's writtern into the by-laws of each league.
The only exceptions is flag football (coaches from each team are the officials), t ball, coach pitch baseball unofficial wrestling bouts prior to a youth wrestling event.

I don't know anything about the local soccer programs or how they work.

It sounds like you pay a lot of money for a youth soccer program, including one without paid officials.
I don't think our youth football charges that much and they have paid officials?

But we do have very lucrative fundraisers, official concessions stands, which raise a lot of money.

These are 7 year olds which means that the coaches are pitching to the kids so that they can hit the ball. All the reason why this is more pathetic.

In my kids soccer league, they have middle school kids ref. They might call 1 foul per game when the kids basically tackle each other all game. Little kid soccer is more physical than football. It's as is if there are no refs at all but everyone understands they are little kids and little kids reffing so nobody complains. I coach my kids team and I know full well the reffing will be beyond atrocious but I dont care.

Like many I played little league ball too. Like Swearvin said I knew my spot every game, tell me once and I knew who was in front of me and behind. In regular rec league I do remember batting out of order once, the kid in front of me had to go to the bathroom so they sent me up because no one had time for that.

I have been lucky I have not had to deal with too many bad parents as I coached my son in various sports, but I have seen it happen to know too well how it can go down. I think having a rest face that looks pissed off helped me in that regard. The times I chose not to coach, again like Swervin I isolate myself from everyone sitting in the corner by myself.

Out of football, Wrestling, and Baseball, I believe the worst parents are wrestling moms. They are the most obnoxious probably because it is tough seeing jr get manhandled.

Wrestling moms are the worst especially the "helicopter" wrestling moms. They're the ones who run around with the cameras at matches, try to watch youth practices and wrestle offs, and can't leave their kid alone.

As a wrestling parent you have to attempt to remove yourself from the wrestling drama, sit in the stands watch the wrestling, and try not to get too involved.

It is what it is and getting worked up doesn't help anything.

A lot of parents especially moms are out of the stands right next to the mat, yelling at their kid, the officials, the opponent, etc. A bad scene!

Wrestling is a different sport.
Kids start at 5, they wrestle on youth teams beginning at 5 and 6 with competitive matches each weekend, and begin going to away tournaments at that age.
You might have two dual meets during the week and an away tournament on Saturday.
Anyone who wrestled knows experience and mat time is a major component for wrestling success.

As youth wrestling progresses wrestling parents go to tournaments during the season, post season and probably spend more time watching the sport than most parents. At the MS and HS the schedule becomes even more intense!

Tournaments begin at 7 am with weigh -ins, pig-tail bouts start at 8:30, the main draw begins at 10am, if your kid losses early wrestle backs start, if your kid does well in the main draw or in the wrestle backs you could be in the gym until 9pm at night after they wrestle for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
Now you have to drive home.

We had one kid who started wrestling at 5 like most kids in our area, Never Won a wrestling bout for two years, in fact he mostly got pinned, hung in, keep getting better, got real good, and lettered/started three years on his HS team with one year winning a PA State Team Championship. Our other kid was on that same team.

It is a tough sport for kids and parents I'm sure you know that!

The whole idea of organized sports for kids this age is dumb. Kids used to organize their own games, make their own ground rules, and settle whatever disputes arose on their own. Good training for future adults. Today's parents want to micro manage every second of their kids' lives. You then end up with kids who become the sorry "adults" we see in that video.

I had a similar experience, My son is 7 and plays in coach pitch baseball, We were playing sewickley (yough school district). The coach checked our kids bats half way through the game for legal bats. lol. The kids were 7 and 8. My son can't hit the ball past the pitcher. I had no clue what the school was. After the game and all the illegal bats and call outs. They won by a run and their coach had them run out to the outfield and not shake our kids hands, We were all confused Welcome to shitty people raising people. We have to play them tomorrow in sewickley, yough to see it first hand, Hail to pitt
