Pending commitments

I saw on Twitter there are 3 kids announcing Sunday who Pitt is after. I would have to assume this is them +1 but I’m sure those more in the know will chime in.
 
The players referenced by the OP:

Preston Lavant - LB
Terrence Enos - OT
Brandon Honorable - OT
Shawn Asbury II - CB

I would love to get both Honorable and Enos. A need position with both players having a solid offer sheets.

Great to see the online prospects in a true need position.Also announcing on Sunday is the tight end from neck of the woods CJDipree which is a true need position. Seems like we only get grad transfers at this position. Word is that he might be heading for Maryland.Lets hope we get his verbal. Duzz has put together a nice staff of aggressive recruiters with hires the past few years.

I know this may have been covered in another thread, but does anyone have an idea how many scholarships we have for next year?

Will be a large class...could be near the max. We have 18 seniors, Twyman & Ford are gone so that’s 20, we may take a Sr grad transfer so that’s another ship. Add kids transferring and we can easily get to 24 or so.

Two OTs from rival Detroit D1 football factories that each send 8-10 kids D1 every year. Collins was a long time coach in a Detroit including some time at Cass Tech and has recruited the Detroit PSL everywhere he has worked. He’s been at Pitt for 3 years yet these will be the first Detroit recruits he’s pulled to Pitt. Odd that neither kid has Michigan or MSU offers, given the strength of their offer sheets.

Honorable has a MSU offer. And per Chris Peak we had a couple Detroit kids who wanted to verbal last year but had to turn them down because those position groups were full. It’s a tough area to recruit because many of the kids there dream of playing in the B10.
 
If these guys commit Pitt is getting some massive offensive line prospects.
 
He's a nitter no question about it. I'm sure Jerry is lonely maybe he should visit him. Or he is the PT kid's lawyer etc.

Hopefully these are all 3-stars with upside to 4-star abilities over time. We haven't gotten out of mediocrity for decades now because we haven't landed enough high 3-star to 4-star talent compared to our stronger opponents. I am still underwhelmed by the overall quality of our football recruiting. When we start landing classes with, at a minimum, having 1/3 of our recruits being 4-star recruits I will stop being underwhelmed and have a reinvigorated interest in Pitt football.

Maybe that can happen if we have an unexpected breakout season?

Good question. IDK. But I would SERIOUSLY doubt it. It’s “Happy Valley” after all. Only GOOD things seem to get reported around here about what takes place in that Utopia. :rolleyes:
