Pickett pulls a Ditka..................

"As the Panthers quarterback paced down the sideline, he encountered two teammates talking as though Pitt’s win was a foregone conclusion. Aware that time was remaining, Pickett grabbed them and told them to, in more unpleasant words, be quiet."

I heard a quote from Brian O'Neill where he mentioned this exact thing. He said there was no question that Pickett was in charge of the team.

This is awesome

Then you think he is a true freshman

Then you think... this kid is special. This confidence was seen on the field, he wasn't tentative he went after it

Unless you have an Alabama defense, QB is sooooo important to your teams success. Just looks at the teams this year that lost their starting QBs and have struggled. WVU is in trouble with Grier going down, Michigan sucks without their starter as with many others. Let is pray that Pickett stays healthy.

He should have said that to Whitehead too. Honestly though that is what your coaching staff should be doing, not your freshman qb. I like that Pickett has the mindset and discipline to realize not to prematurely celebrate until the clock shows zero however

You are correct. 90%+ of college teams suffer a significant drop off when their starting QB goes down. Whether it's in terms of talent; experience; or both.

And Pitt played 3 different starting QB's this year. Not typically a recipe for success. But hopefully something that will pay big dividends beginning as soon as next season.

It would be tremendously beneficial if Pitt's O next season has the ability to be balanced. To be able to threaten defenses on the ground and through the air. Makes any team so much more difficult to defensive game plan against and therefore to stop. We'll see.

sounds like a kid who has studied Pitt football history. hell, he really had only to go back a week to a one yard line to remember foregone conclusions not coming to fruition.

So who says the staff wasn't also doing it?

Pickett looks like player almost Johnny Football like. Hopefully he can put an end to the QB issues. I just don't understand why he wasn't playing after Browne went down regardless of the redshirt situation. Play your damn best players! Pitt may have won 7-8 games this year......probably wins against Syracuse & UNC.....they coaches screwed up VT.
