Pitt #18

I can't criticize Oregon's OOC, playing OSU and Boise. Even PSU played WVU which is a legit opponent and gives them 10 P4 games. The issue with PSU is they got a cake B10 schedule, but they still played 10 P4 teams.

Now Indiana and Ohio St deserve criticism for weak OOC. And I would hope in this committee era that would come into play to break ties, just like it does in hoops when you play soft OOC. For instance, an 11-1 Pitt should get in over an 11-1 Indiana if that's how it ends up.

I'd have a tough time rewarding Penn State for scheduling WVU over a G5 team Ohio State played when Ohio State might end up playing 3, or even 4, games against playoff teams to Penn State's 1. Just like in basketball, overall strength of schedule is all that should matter, in my opinion.

Yea, well, we know in hoops that your 11 game non-con SOS is weirdly far more important than your overall 32 game SOS.

11-1 PSU getting in over 11-2 Ohio State would be funny and a very similar situation to UVa bball getting in over Pitt. Pitt beat them on the road and had a stronger overall SOS but UVa had a stronger non-con SOS so they got in.

I agree on overall schedule.

Still , Ohio St is a well established Top 5 team and they schedule Akron Marshall and Western Michigan….weak sauce

It would be retribution for the 2016 season when OSU got in over Big 10 champ PSU.

I find it strange that the conferences have been trying to gobble up good programs recently but this year, they seem more watered down then ever.

They gobble up the good teams but then they don't schedule them against each other. That is why no one has played anyone.

ACC is no different. Even though SMU whooped our butz, we were their toughest-in conference opponent. At least us and Louisville. Murderer's Row. And I know Florida State unexpectedly stunk, but then we were unexpectedly 7-0 so that's a wash.

These really aren't conferences in the same sense as we used to know them. They are essentially just TV partners with a scheduling alliance. Even though you are in the same conference, you wont play each other all that often. When Pitt was an INDEPENDENT, we played PSU, WVU, ND, Syr, Temple, and Rutgers every year. We were playing more schools annually as an independent than as a conference member.
