If Pitt wins this Saturday at v tech and Clemson handles Syracuse I think there is a slight chance for gameday to come to Heinz for their game. Yes, Clemson has 2 loses and Pitt had a bad home loss but week 8’s slate of games is pretty bad.
Thoughts?

Honestly, there’s not many. The most intriguing matchups I see are Oregon at UCLA and Tennessee at Alabama.

There’s also a few notable G5 matchups such as Coastal Carolina at App State, Wake Forest at Army, and SDSU at Air Force.

#9 Oregon at UCLA
Not a great game but about as good as it gets for the Pac-12. It's not like Herbstreit would need to fly back for another terrible Saturday night game on ABC (Ohio State-Indiana). The top crew could do the afternoon game.

Tennessee at #5 Alabama
Tennessee could make some noise with a win over No. 13 Ole Miss this week and set up a big SEC game between two ranked teams.

USC at #14 Notre Dame
This feels like a typical choice ESPN would make and it'd be a let down to cover this game between two disappointing teams.

Clemson at Pitt
Clemson losing a second game really hurt our chances. If Pitt wins this week they should be ranked and maybe Clemson turns it on and gets a big win over a bad Syracuse team. I just don't see it anymore with Clemson having such a bad season.

#15 Coastal Carolina at App State
This game is on Wednesday, October 20th otherwise this would've been a great location for GameDay. Maybe if they move the game from Wednesday to Saturday, but we are getting close to crunch time for a decision. As far as I know, GameDay has never visited and these teams are battling at the top of the conference. On top of it, that setting at peak fall foliage, would be very hard to pass up.

I'm planning to go to this game. I understand that currently it's at the perfect game time, 3:30pm, if Game Day means it moves to 8pm, I don't want it.

Wake Forest is P5.

So if they run the table, being a P5 unbeaten, they should definitely, NO QUESTION, get into the Playoff right?

I agree. Coastal and App should be the game pending any upsets this week. Would be a beautiful setting up in Boone this time of year too. And these two programs deserve some national recognition during a 'down week'. Shame they are already scheduled for a mid-week showdown.

Considering Wake is number 16, they would likely be top 4 if they run the table. They would equal the Washington or MSU of years gone by.

App lost to Miami and Coastal barely beat Buffalo. Curious why the are scheduling App-Louisiana tonight on a Tuesday in MLB playoff season as well.

agree, I think it is Oregon-UCLA, but if any of the teams you mention loses this week and we win I think there would be a decent chance of it happening.

I hear ya on App, but that was a bit before the wheels came off of the season for Miami. They have been a pretty strong program for several years now. For me, in a week without a great matchup, I like to see GameDay at unique locations. I grow tired of the same old 10-15 schools and matchups being showcased.

I agree with ya on the unique locations. My first choice would be Clemson-PITT if it can happen. If they beat VT, if Clemson beats Syracuse, and if Pickett has a solid game, I think they can return to Heinz. If not, somewhere other than Bama, please.

Oh, no! What will Pitt do with one less pair of Zubaz in the stands? I guess it does make it easier to sneak in your store brand pops.
I never had Zubaz, Did you? I'm going either way, I'd just prefer to go to the game at 3:30pm, I will probably be wearing grey cargo sweatpants and a Pitt hoodie, blue with yellow script, is that weird? I used to sneak 12 oz beers back in the day, But not for at least 20 years. I think I snuck a few in to a Steelers/Bengals game at 3 Rivers back around 2000. Don't you have preferences? I love 3-4 PM kickoff.

I like the night kickoff for tailgating. You can get some stuff done in the morning and a dinner tailgate is much better than breakfast (noon start) or lunch (3:30).

There are millions of people I'm sure who never watch baseball, but would watch ANY football game over MLB playoffs. ESPN can pick up that kind of sports fan.

If I'm going to a football game, I never care about getting "anything else done" that day, especially coming from out of town, I like 3:30pm, start tailgate between 12-1pm, game ends around 8pm, go out to dinner after, then maybe a bar or 2.

THIS! First of all, we need to take care of business.

But...yeah, likely on ABC at 3:30, that means Herbie and Fowler could be doing that game. No other really appealing games on that Disney platform unless they want to Northwestern at Michigan and keep on shoving us a diet of Big 10 games at night.

But right now, I would think Pitt/Clemson would be a frontrunner.

Someone mentioned this, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this as their FCS week. I just do not see Clemson-Pitt being intriguing enough on the national scale.

There is no really big FCS matchups either. The best is like #9 Weber St vs #18 Montana State or #24 North Dakota at #4 Southern illinois.

I am sorry, those don't move the needle at all.

They wont go to any of those games. This would be one of those times they go to an FCS game or D2 or D3 like they do every once in awhile.

If Army wins at Wisconsin, they will surely go to West Point for the Wake game.

Aha. Army and Wake? Yeah, if Army wins....that looks like a potential slam dunk. Plus an easy jet from West Point to Pittsburgh.

Have they ever done a game broadcast on CBS sportsnet though? They could also do Air Force and SDSU, but same thing with CBS sportsnet.
Yeah and it is a noon game. I am sorry, if Pitt/Clemson both win out this weekend, our game makes as much sense both ramifications/interest wise as it does logistic wise.

I could see them going to #1 Sam Houston State (defending national champ) hosting #24 Jacksonville State (the team that beat FSU) over Pitt-Clemson. There are other options too like #8 James Madison vs. #14 Delaware. If ESPN wants to go FCS that weekend, they can find a game, but my guess is that they would give Sam Houston State the nod.

That has nothing to do with it. Gameday has done games at Noon, 3:30 and at night.
GameDay is terrible with a noon game. I think the last two weeks has had the set in the stadium and there's zero atmosphere for the show. Defeats the purpose for going on the road. Then again, they've done too many neutral site games this year as well. The show used to be about being on campus.

A few times. They did TCU at Utah about 10 years ago. I don't think the network matters a great deal. Basically just a tiebreaker. If Army beats Wisconson, and I doubt they do, that's a no-brainer. Would be a great excuse to for them to love up West Point

And not only that, but the Pitt - Clemson game time has been set. It's going to start at 3:30. They aren't going to change that now. They aren't ALLOWED to change that now, contractually.

Just like they aren't going to move the Coastal - App State game to Saturday. It's as if people think that there aren't contracts that have to be followed wrt game times and television choices.

Depends, and when I say "Depends" I mean "Depends" on bathroom accessibility for Lee Corso..

if Pitt wins comfortably this week what type of attendance are you expecting for the Clemson game? Typically Clemson should bring in a higher draw but them being down a bit hurts casual sales. Do we get to 60K+

If Pitt wins and KP has another big game, I could see it. ESPN loves the hype. While the game itself might have a little less luster with 2 loss Clemson, they do love Dabo. And they might see KP as a Heisman dark horse as something hype-worthy as well.
