The Challenge under Pitt Experience category can win Athletics an extra $25K.

The actual day is Feb 28th, which is the anniversary of the founding of Pitt by the signing of its charter by the Commonwealth in 1787. This day used to be celebrated every year as Founder's Day, but like many traditions in the first half of the 20th Century, it disappeared. This is a good start to making the day prominent again.

Not the perfect time for tax consideration, but maybe the 2nd best with many people getting their 1099s and doing previous year taxes. This may help trigger a few more thoughts about needing to up charitable giving with Pitt on the mind.

Unfortunate timing as I gave 16 grand last August and another 16 grand in December....tapped out right now...

Thanks for sharing this, CP. I marked the date on my calendar when we got the email, but i think I'll make my gift now while I'm thinking about it. Credit to Pitt's advancement team for putting together an excellent day of giving.

If anyone wants to donate under my club, "Pitt Club Tennis" that would be great! Whichever student organization has the most total donations wins a prize for the organization, so amount given is unnecessary. Thanks all #H2P

Wow. The donations jumped up significantly since last night.

They've cracked $2 million and over 1,500 gifts with about 10 hours remaining.

Pitt Athletics is gaining ground but still behind.

Still 6 Student organizations without a donation.

13 states left without a donor.

Anyone that can give 32k in the course of 5 months is hardly "tapped out"......

I admire your philanthropy Sir......
uh, nope, just referring to my kid's tuition and room and board, thus the "tapped outage"...

Just gave to Athletics and Swanson. They should find different reasons to do stuff like this more often.

School of Arts & Sciences now in last place. Pathetic, and worth discussing.

How is athletics still losing? Less than 100 gifts and losing ground big time now. Down 99 gifts to the athletic trainer pack project and UCIS is closing. Also telling.

Well, the email athletics sent isn't working correctly. If you're going to send an email then at least send something that sends you to the location. I also think Swanson's showing is pretty pathetic.

LMFAO! You're right. They wait until 1pm to send it and the link doesn't work. Typical, their "Donate Today" link on their website has had problems for a long time. At least their main link works when you go to their website. The Panther Club has to have the worst booster club web presence of any major school.

Pharmacy looks like their the only ones that have gotten to 1% of living alumni.

I received an email from Pitt Athletics at noon and the link worked.

Got numerous emails from the university over the last 3 days.

Got numerous emails from the university over the last 3 days.

So checking on this, I received two from Athletics (and in case anyone there is checking, they should be aware):

The one sent at noon was from Pitt Athletics Hail_To_Pitt@ia.pitt.edu via imodules.com. That link DID work. That one seems to be from Pitt's in house institutional advancement team.

The one sent at 1:10PM was from Pitt Athletics <reply-1468@pacmail.em.marketinghq.net>. The link did NOT work, nor does the link to the "web version of this message."

Whoever is doing the pacmail emails, MarketingHQ?, who must be a third party marketing vendor, has issues. Now, there apparently has been a widespread outage across the east coast for internet sites. So maybe MarketingHQ is a victim of that. If not, MarketingHQ might need to be looked at when their contract comes up. I don't know if this vendor is the same, but I know this isn't the first time I've received emails about Pitt athletics with broken links.

This does not seem to be so much on the Athletic Department as this third party vendor, so apologies to the athletic department for this, but fix your website links and get the PantherClub a decent website.

Holly crap... the total raised just jumped $2 mill in the last hour and there aren't that many more total gifts. Now up to $4.188 million on 2200+ gifts. Someone(s) just made some BIG donations.

Athletics only 5 total gifts (of any amount) behind UCIS...but that is the difference between getting $20K and $12.5K in matching funds.

That happened in the last 20 minutes. Holy crap.

Can someone please explain what the Athletic Training Panther Pack project is exactly??

There is a real battle going on in the Student Organization leader board. It's been going back and forth all day. Pitt Club Tennis, Pitt Rowing Club, and Men's Glee Club all neck and neck at the top within 17 gifts of each other.

Pitt Athletics back into second but by only by 9 gifts.

Agree with this and the latest email from Athletics worked fine. As for the PantherClub site, it's bad and has been for ever. The Day of Giving site blows it away.

I'm a fan of UVA's: http://virginiaathleticsfoundation.com/ Clear goals and up to date progress against those goals. I do like the progress bars athletics sent in their last email.

I'm still really confused that the athletic trainers packs have clearly stayed in the lead all day. I had never even heard of it until today. Anyone have any insight?
