I'm sick of everyone saying Pitt has a great Defense. That is not the case. The DLine is great. Most of those guys on 2 deep could start/play at any college including Bama and Clemson. Outside those 4 spots who else could say that?

Paris Ford could at the great majority of schools but he would sit too due to lack of discipline at the higher echelon schools. So 5 of 11 spots have true talent. Dennis seems to be progressing but still a long way to go. The rest of the team is being manned by players who would not start at many other P5 schools. Hamlin maybe a 2 deep guy, but he would not be in on obvious pass situations.

Defense can still win championships but half a defense cannot.

They've given up 84 points in regulation in four conference games. What more do you want?

Losing Mathis, Davis, and Twyman were huge. 2 guys in the middle of the defense and your best CB. We aren’t deep enough in certain positions to overcome it.

For fans to realize that this defense will still give up big plays and not completely shut out other teams. We only have half a defense which just shows how amazing the DLine is since only 84 points were given up.

Well said.

We are seeing this with the Steelers as well....it will be challenging to see truly great defense this year because of the lack of crowds. It’s much easier on offenses.

That doesn’t excuse everything; you need to hold people at the end of games....but I don’t think you see too many elite defensive numbers this year

Paris Ford. He could start for any team in the country.

The biggest problem in Narduzzi's insistence on playing Press man with his corners who aren't athletic enough to do so. I bet Miami's OC has 20 plays planned to go deep against Pinnock. Time for the Gym Teacher to play Freshman a no d mostly zone.

My thoughts exactly. It doesn't matter much if they would have the best DL of all time. A decent coach will gameplan around it if there are weaknesses in other areas.

Agreed... I am not saying we are bad in the secondary, but not great either. The defensive line is awesome though... we may have to scheme to protect the other two units more.
