Pitt-Iowa Gamethread

Thats going to be a tough one to sleep off. Had a legitimate shot at the end, too bad our best player got a BS foul at the end of the game to foul out

I think Trey took some contact at the end. Bullshit game typical B10 slow down the game with all the fouls.

Still proud of the team. But that was a tough loss.

Iowa can't be the 14th best team in the nation
or maybe Pitt is a lot better than people think. After seeing tonights perfomance, I honestly believe they can be middle of the pack in the ACC (which gets them awfully close to the bubble). Look at the middle pack. They have some interesting losses (to teams much worse than Iowa).

I didnt expect to be in heart attack mode so early in the Capel era. Felt like a March meaningful game and one that we could have won. Great effort, just wish we would have gotten a better shot off at the end.

Would have been so fitting to pull it off after cook missed BOTH free throws. Must have still been a little woozy from that “head injury” from before. Nothing wrong with the foul at the end, I don’t know what he was all pissy about. Zero contact by Kene on the play where cook briefly left the game either. I didn’t think Cook deserved a technical at the end. Would have been nice to have X be the one to run it up the floor at the end. Trey made the right play on that last possession, you take that ball right to the hoop. Just couldn’t finish.

Great effort. I feel like we have a good shot in Morgantown.

That would have been a Heartbreaker a couple years ago, but tonight I'm smiling. Line was Iowa by 12 and we led most of the way, can't hang your head after that. This was hapless team just 8 months ago and now there's hope.

But DAMN, that look at the end... Could have had it.

Should have been a drinking game!

Good game. It was a good look by mcgowens, but IMO when you cross half court you pass it to JWF immediately, maybe even before that unless you literally beat everyone in transition somehow. But I mean he’s a freshman and it wasn’t really a bad decision, I like where we’re headed. Man we should’ve won that game though.

And for the record that cook kid is apparently taking over for Grayson Allen in the college basketball world. No place in the game for all his theatrics and flopping around.

He didn’t loose confidence he tried to make a play and it didn’t work out,he’s only a freshman

I will never understand fans that deny the refs play a part in games. Does it make you feel superior?

Refs play a part in the game. They just can't be used as an excuse for losing the game, if we're a good team. The second half started with a slew of turnovers. If you want to look for a reason we lost, that would be a better one than the refs.

Hopefully they are... we would then be around the 15th best.

Oh, I think we will end up a ton better than people thought. I think against the bottom half of the conference we can do some damage, not to sure about #15 though. But I would very much like to be mistaken.

Two quotes from Milan Brown on the post game show.

"I thought it was a foul shooting contest and we didn't get invited."

"For a while there it looked like a buy game rather than the ACC/Big Ten Challenge."

When said play happens with ten seconds left, you can absolutely point to it as areason you lose.

I hate this argument. Is a team supposed to win every game by 10 points so blown calls can’t impact the game?

If we are going to criticize pitt for playing sloppy, why can’t we criticize the refs for blowing several critical calls in critical situations?
