to the sweet sixteen and we have people on board who say if Dixon leaves the program will regress...being one of 68 and always losing in the first round of the tourney sounds like regression to me....I am not concerned Barnes will deliver a very good coach...

I'm not worried, but we could be one team that doesn't even make the tourney, let alone advance, depending on how things turn out.

If you're going to bash, get your facts right. Pitt is 10-3 in the first round of the tourney in the past 15 years. 8-3 under Dixon.

Since when is 3 out of 11 even remotely close to "always"?

Dixon's winning % in the first rd of the tournament I would wager one of the best in the country.

Now, second rd, that's a different story.

I think the program has pretty much regressed over the last 5 years

That's a scorching hot take. Of course it regressed. And I think some regression, given how consistently high a level Dixon had Pitt at from 03-11 would be expected, unless people just expected us to be excellent forever.

I think the question is 1) Can Dixon get it back to that level, 2) Can anyone, and 3) Is there someone out there that you would force Dixon out for?

While I think we can go further in the tournament from time to time, I don't think we'll ever see a sustained stretch of excellence like Howland-Dixon from 01-11.

We'll see, I hope I'm wrong. I just wish Jermaine Dixon didn't have the worst brain fart at the worst time possible and we had beaten Nova.... Would make all of that decade even more special.
