Pitt/Louisville 2009 on ESPNU right now...

They had Pitt beating BC at BC early this morning... Howland's third year. The true breakout year.

Wish we had a D. Zavak on this team. Frightening dude.

I got it on now.
1st thing I noticed is how big the uniforms are

That was a noon game. My friend thought it was at 2. He got to the game maybe around 2:10 to find he missed all of regulation.

The rankings that week in 2009 were interesting. Pitt #1, Duke #2, Wake Forest #3.

Those cats could play some hoops, except for missed layups. Wtf
God do I miss Dejuan Blair. That Louisville game was probably his worst game of that season, but he's still my #1 greatest Pitt Panther of all-time. I"m not sure it's possible to be any more dominate on both ends of the floor than he was.

I was talking about that nooner. Maybe I have the wrong year. The double OT game. Gary McGhee actually got eaten alive by that Louisville big. Probably the only time.
There was one year when we played Louisville at the exact same time as the Steelers/Colts AFC divisional playoff (the year Bettis fumbled at the goal line and Ben had to make that miracle tackle). I remember watching the Steelers and taping Pitt. What a great day that was.

He hardly played!!

I wonder how good this team would have been had Cook not gotten hurt.
Yep that was a big blow for sure. This team had some real struggles at times starting with the next game at Dayton when Fields got injured. That’s what made the Big East tourney title so great.

I was at that game in Freedom Hall. Terrible seats, terrible arena to view a game (it reminded me of the Farm Show building in Hershey). They did sell bourbon though. It was such a devastating loss at the time, having just gotten to #1, that when watching today, I was surprised at how close it was, I'd just remembered being very depressed afterwards, not the score.
