1. Bad loss ,there is no spinning it, but sometimes conventional wisdom is wrong, which is common on this board

2. In this day and age of college football, you need a playmaker at the most important position,in a close game, Quarterback, and no matter what you say 13 points in college football is nothing...I hate to pick on a kid but Peterman missed 4 crucial and relatively easy throws that could have put the game away and it didn't happen, Trubisky did.....Trust me I believed in him at the beginning of the year but now I just don't see it....

3. Canada had maybe 10% to do with this loss, anything to the contrary and you would be wrong

4. Conner is a great story but he is not in foootball shape, not his fault but it is the truth and he missed alot of holes today...

5. anybody that solely puts this on the offense needs to go back and rewatch the game......

6. I am debating the chicken or egg theory on defense as we speak..regarding athletes and scheme

7. Like I said I hate to pick on a kid but Webb was abysmal yesterday......he just doesn't have it and a change needs to be made at FS.......

You can blame Duzz for the defense that is fine the buck stops with him but after watching the game again, yes I am a masochist, players were in position to make a play and didn't...Webb whiffing three times on swing passes ,he was there didn't get it done, hell Whitehead whiffed also....hell on some of NC's catches the corners were there but didn't make a play

9. on two of the fourth down plays Trubisky made a great throw, which goes back to point #2....

10. I am torn about playing the younger players but I think Duzz needs to get them out there....Athletic ability makes up for mental and physical mistakes at times....then you can put Maddox inside in the nickel where he would be much more effective.....

11. anybody that gives up on Narduzzi is a total idiot and it is not debateable......you can see what he wants to do but it just isn';t there yet...some of it is his fault, some of it isnt

12. Once again because it is so crucial point #2 needs to be corrected in the years to come

13. Pitt sweeps October and then we go from there......

Excellent OP, Webb was a WR Mac recruit that may have helped in bringing in Boyd, disagree with #13 hoping to win 2 in Oct.

Good post. Maybe we've gone from getting way behind and making it close - to blowing a lead with 2 seconds left. In a weird way that's progress .

We did have three defensive starters out.

On a side note -- did PSU really kick a FG on 4th and 2 when down 28 to 0 in the 3rd quarter???? Yikes...

I don't see the sweep in October. In fact, I see only 2 "Sure" wins in Marshall & Cuse. There is zero chance against Clemson & Miami. So that takes us to 4-4.

The other 4 are pure toss-ups. VA & Tech have improved their coaching significantly. Duke can move the ball, so can GaTech. I'll go with the laws of probability since they are toss-ups and predict a 2-2 split to finish 6-6, with another appearance in the Military bowl.

Good post, but I don't define losing by one point in 2 seconds even with a lead as a bad loss, it is a great disappointment that Pitt can't keep its leads once they get them, but that is still something that must be worked on and by all the coaches, players and teams.

A Bad Loss To Me is like the Bama-USC Game in Week One, ULou beating FSU last week, Michigan-Penn State Game this week. UNC won this game too by making the key plays they needed when they needed them.

Very astute observation and spot on and ULou proved that this year, Clemson the last few years, Miami and USC even in losing a close one finally found a QB Play-maker Making one wonder why did they bench him the first 3 games. UNC Fedora has always come up with a Great QB that gets it done. Not A super QB but one that comes troughs and executes when needed.

Pitt has not had a Great QB since 1980s and even with Palko, Flacco, Bostick, and Savage, it either lacked Coaching on other areas like the Defenses, or lost on Special Teams, or bad Game Plans, or poor OLs, and OC Playcalling?

Now Peterman has the OC, OL, and RBs but lacks the Wideouts right now unlike PSU, OKSU, and UNC have Great ones! This means Peterman can't afford to miss and execute plays when he does have RBS, WRS, and TE wide open but he did?

Peterman played a good game but missing those 3 passes on 3rd Downs was the difference in this 37-36 lost as far as I can see. Add in a a poor Pitt Defense and again Pitt is not supporting its Offense that did score 42, 38, and 36 points.

Agree, and OC Canada is a very good OC for this Pitt Team! Pitt has to find that QB or make him too under OC and Canada will do it, in my opinion.

Excellent point and few want to say it, but it is not just Conner that knows it, but Narduzzi has been aware of it too as he has mention since camp? Yet, Conner is still doing great, but Teams are ready for him knowing he will get the Ball on 3rd and 2, or near the Goaline is the second part of the problem. But again, the Defense, Peterman missing Executable Play Calling Passes, Wideouts developing for the QB, and this aspect of Conner being given the Ball when Teams expect it is all fixable with Poitt having other Players ready too.

Right on, it was Team loss and Coaches have to fix it with Players that have to execute it, and Defense needs much work among coaches and Players together. Pitt has many Playmakers on Defense that Harrris, Wannstedt, Graham, and Chryst did not have in the past compared to Narduzzi & Staff! time to figure out whether Whitehhead being the Spear of his Defense at Safety can work or needs many changes? Clearly, it has not work and that is a shame because the Offense is getting big leads if Pitt can make early starts and losing those leads by just a few plays is still losing? Nraduzzi needs some Staff Time and really attack why and what is happening and why it is not working. They need to solve it and its not too late?

I agree and disagree, I don't see...there is no Chicken there is no Egg, therefore there is no Defense! I don't what it is either and Narduzzi & Staff has to find that Egg or that Chicken even before he can figure it out?

Narduzzi Defense System is not working, whether it is communication, execution, or confusion. There are great spurts of Defensive Line Play that has stopped the runs, but then there are just 1 play that just breaks down and POOF like Magic No Defense anymore? It is like 10 Players do a great a job and the 1 Player lets the others down and it goes all around not just any one player. Narduzzi & Staff created it time to change it, it can't get much worst as the experimenter with alternatives.

Not one Pitt Player lost this game, and not one UNC Player won it, but a few do need better execution at critical times that UNC Players made and Pitt Players did not enough to lose by one point, and the Coaches have to fix it with the Players too!

Excellent points and up to Coach Pat and Staff and Players to fix it! Pitt now has VT, Miami, Clemson ahead of them! Losing by a few points when they can win by many points is fixable, and they must do it together!

Perfect QB Execution on key plays is hard to beat and to me was the difference in the game, those 3 QB Plays that got 4th Downs just by inches and the TD won it, and Pitt's QB missing 3 Passes with wide Open Players earlier allow UNC to have that situation to win, and those 6 plays decided a Hard Fought tough game!

I am not, something is wrong with the Defense System and if that is some Players did Ok, if not, find out, and fix it? The Attitude is there but the Execution is not and maybe it is communications and mismatches this what Narduzzi & Staff are paid to find out and fix it.

At the same time the Narduzzi Defensive Think Tank is working, the Offense QB, WRS, RBS, and TE need to practice and practice on runnig routes, catching and throwing.

Absolutely agree, This is a Very Good Team with Great Attitudes and Coaches that has not been seen since 1970-80s. They will get it done and will do it together.

Yep, finding or developing that QB has become a Hallmark in Today's Game. Even a Cavanaugh or Marino or Campbell would have it tougher today by not being more Mobile. They would still win but the Defenses are is quick now, being able to run at times makes a big difference. Yet, Peterman ran great yesterday but those 3 misses hurt, but in reality the UNC QB 4th down catches won this game! Pitt did not lose it UNC won and very tough enjoyable game for them, and disappointment for PitT fans!
