Pitt ticket office just emailed with payment contingency plans

3 options...

Use funds towards 2021 season.
Donate funds to scholarships or panther club.
Apply for a full refund.

This is good on Pitt. I have a family membership to a pool club for the summer. Have been members for years. However when the club was asked about what happens if it never opens this year, the club said they would have to evaluate at a later date but that refunds might not happen. So we didnt renew this year.

Its best to not renew things or ask for a refund now in view of the unnecessary but uncertain future.

If anyone had NHL Center Ice with DirectTV call DT or your provider and ask for a refund for the games you missed.

DT refunded me 1/3 of my purchase price.

I also cancelled MLB Extra Innings.
When baseball starts up I'm sure they'll have a special promo rate for this season.

Should the season be altered or postponed
For those believing that there will be a football season this fall, this should help clarify the situation for you. I now, more then ever, believe that the 2020 college football season will not be played this fall.

Too much money to lose an entire season. Greed with college sports will win out. It might be played in empty stadiums with PPV or something but they’ll exhaust all options to play those games...

Why!
By Sept most things will return to normal.
Most of the virus deaths 60% were at nursing homes and similar facilities.
Most future deaths will be at those places since they were mismanaged from the beginning of the onset of the virus.

Protect the vulnerable but let others live a normal life.
There's not flu vaccine. There's a flu shot which is 40% effective. People who get the flu shot get the flu, ask my wife.
There may be a similar vaccine for Covid so what do we do in that case Quit!?
No we move on!

Its time for students of all levels to return to schools, its time for America to get back to normal, its time for sports of all levels to begin.

A local School District Superintendent in our area who said most faculty and students are interested in getting back to school. Virtual education doesn't work long term. Social interaction is a vital component of educating young adults.
It is!

So the fact that someone is planning ahead for certain contingencies means that we should assume that those contingencies are going to happen?

If that's the case, since Pitt has resumed charging people who were on the payment plan does that mean that the season will be played? It's almost as if they are planning for either there to be a season or for there to not be a season. Imagine that.

While I would love to see football played this year, it just seems unlikely in my opinion. All of the stats you stated are wonderful but unless the governor's of EVERY state where college football is going to be played are in agreement, games will not be played. Look at what Wolf has done here. He has become so conservative in his approach. He is listening to Cuomo up in NY and Murphy in NJ and following their lead. All he has shown me is that he is a poor leader and has no business being the Governor of Pennsylvania. I hope what I'm saying is wrong BUT things just don't seem to be going in the direction of there being football played this fall.

I guess you missed that whole thing about a second possibly worse wave in the fall and winter which combined with regular flu season is looking to actually be worse?

I don't know if they will play this fall or not (neither does anyone else) but this statement here is certainly false. For instance if all the schools in the ACC are ready to play in the fall but the Governor of Massachusetts says that Boston College can't play there is no way, and I mean literally none, that the ACC will cancel the season because Boston College can't play. And if Massachusetts were the only state in the country that would put that restriction on their schools there is no way, literally a zero percent chance, that the SEC or the Big 10 or any other league would decide to cancel the season because Boston College and UMass aren't allowed to play.

He still doesn't get it like some that think they are entitled. SMH

I received that email too and would love to have Pitt football this fall. I'm not being wimpy etc but I'm in contact with some elderly family members with health issues. I'm sure others on here are in the same situation. With that being said I'm avoiding large gatherings just to be safe. If they do cancel the season I'm putting that towards basketball or the following 2021 season. I value humanity too much.

Just like they played the NCAA Basketball tourney without fans.

Certain blue bloods could give a rat's ass about other schools in their conf or state. My guess is if they can find a loophole to play they will including legal action. I see them working on contingency plans not to protect students or fans but how to legitimize some partial season into a banner they can hang.

Spoke to a high school AD and according to him fall high school football
is probably not going to happen even IF kids are back in school.
Take it for what it is worth.

Conference commissioners told
@Stadium
online-only academic instruction will not prevent student athletes from returning to campus to play football this season & also conferences likely would play this fall even w/out all of their league members

I work with a high school Drumline here in GA and Symphonic band and jazz band. Band is HUGE at this school.

I haven’t heard anything in over a month in a half ... camp’s would normally occur in July I guarantee that’s not happening.

I just read something regarding choir groups at all levels they foresee something like 18 months to 2 years . Choir especially bad because well... you’ve seen what a cough or sneeze looks like travel wise... choirs with zero activity the rest of the year.

I can’t even contemplate a packed Band Room at this moment and teach my private students on Zoom currently.
