Pitt to launch its lacrosse program on Friday vs Duquesne

I had never seen a match until I was in law school. One of my law school friends had played varsity lacrosse at Washington & Lee. He played football and ran track in high school (DC 100 meters champion) and took up lacrosse there. We used to drive to the University of Maryland or Johns Hopkins to watch matches.

From what I saw today, the rules are very different, starting with the faceoffs. They don’t have the 8 meter free shot in mens’ lacrosse to my recollection and a lot more contact is allowed.

This might just be due to the quality of the two teams today, but it seemed that pretty much all of the goals were either scored from the 8 meter plays or individual effort. Not a lot of quick passes to open teammates flashing in front of the goal. Also, no long shots taken; everything was from in close. Again, those could be reflections of the quality of the two teams.

Who were those people in the stands? @Sean Miller Fan told us he was the only person in the world to ever go to/watch non-football/basketball Pitt sports.

1st ever game and vs a city rival? How many were there? 500? 1000? They will be playing in front if crowds of less than 100 people more often than not. You will never get it. I watched the game and may attend a game. It would be cool to see Pitt win but if they never won another lacrosse game, I'm not sure more than 10 people would truly care. Same goes for all the Olympics sports. They dont have fanbases. Volleyball and soccer seem to be building a small fanbase but that is what extreme winning will do.

You say I don't get it? I'm not the one who thinks it's impossible for all Pitt sports to be successful at the same time.

Sure they can be. All it takes is the right coach. That's it. Literally nothing else. Vidovich and Fisher will win forever here.
