Pitt vs Mizzou Game Thread

I’m liking the way we’re playing so far. They have some shooters, but they can’t match the amount of size and length we have between Fede and the twins… need to take advantage of that.
This was an issue last year, but we’d start out getting open threes with good ball rotations and then keep looking for the long-range shots, eventually forcing bad shot selections.
35 is Connor Heyward. And their coach is a 9-year-old who stole his dad's suit. And 75's picture looks like it should be on a case of paper towels. That is all.

Yeah, had a chance to pull away when we were up by four or five. Instead, we let them back in it and lost the lead.
Gotta ramp up the D and stop giving away possessions. This is one of those games where you have to dig deep and will it.
Pitt is losing the rebound battle by 2 at halftime to a team that has not rebounded all year.
Pitt is -4 in turnover margin, and our defense has only forced 4 turnovers. Again, this remains a huge problem of not forcing turnovers to get our transition offense going.
Mizzou is shooting 46% from 3.

Defense and Rebounding.
Because if we don't do those 2 things in the 2nd half, we are going to lose.
Fredrico simply is not an offensive player. He can't score. He rushes his shots or delays too long. This is his third year playing. I see no improvements.
Not saying he's one of the best players on the team yet or anything, but Lowe feels like a potential x factor for this season. We don't have many ball handlers/shot creators.
The offense is doing enough and I suspect we will continue to get to the foul line in the 2nd half. Mizzou is really doing a good job getting up on Bub, but he doesn’t seem to be all that bothered. Would love to see him shoot it more.

This Mizzou team is a problem. They usually don't shoot this well so maybe they cool a bit in the 2nd half. What scares me is how hard they defend full court and that they play their entire roster meaningful minutes. They may wear us down midway through the 2nd half. We are going to have to heat up from 3 to win.
I hate the idea of letting a team press you and not making them pay for it by pushing the ball upcourt for easy buckets. Like if you're just going to run your half court set anyway, why wouldn't they press you if they have the depth to pull it off?
I'd be curious to see how different the makeup of this team would be with Dior Johnson.

Fede kills the run because he can't finish right at the rim. Then another silly turnover. Plays like that lead to L's.
Yep, he can find a nice important role. He's able to get into space and has very nice form, good dribbler. He could be kind of an x factor.
Can't argue. I think Fede looked and played better last year especially during the 1st half of conference play. He looks like he is regressing each game.
Agree. Would be nice to have another guy off the bench. Seems like this is becoming a 7 or 8 man rotation.
Austin is athletic and he hustles. I wish he had better basketball skills, though. Just too much offensive ineptitude on the court.
