Pitt has a record of 11-3-2 Vs. current SEC foes. Only 2 of those were played in Pgh. Pitt has NEVER played:
Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Miss. State & LSU.
Probably won't see any of them here for years. The 2 we've played, S.C. & aTm, weren't in the SEC at the time.

Pitt has a home-and-home scheduled with Tennessee in 2021 and 2022: @ TN in 2021; @ Pitt in 2022

IF those games are played as scheduled (you never know these days, it seems) the Vols will be the first SEC team to play a game in Pittsburgh while a current active member of the SEC.

It is a bit of a myth that SEC teams refuse to play northern teams. LSU played at SU last year. Bama spanked PS a few years back. TN is coming here to play. WV played Auburn.

Pitt has also never played Vanderbilt. Not sure I understand the reason or takeaway for the topic, though.

That is correct.

I forgot them....but right you are. I was curious after someone mentioned southern teams not coming North for games. Just looked up Pitt's history.

Ooops....missed Missouri. We beat them in Pgh in 1940. So, the record is 12-3-2, with 3 in Pittsburgh.

This goes waaay back to when the then-young Bruce Arians was Temple's head coach, but the Owls hosted Alabama in 1988.

No they just do it about as often as Haleys Comet.;)
Florida is the worst offender. I think they haven't played an ooc tram outside of Florida since at least 1993, at it was Syracuse to boot.

It will never happen, but I'd love to see an sec team play a northern team outside in November.

Why would they though? There is no benefit to them and it would force them into an early season bye week or a late season pain right before their rivalry games 75% of the time. And what SEC fans would want to go to Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, etc. in November?

I know they wouldn't, due to scheduling logistics. Its an issue for the other team also.
But I'd still like to see an lsu or a Florida play a game in the cold.

They'll cancel that series like they did NCST.

Aside from UGA/Auburn playing southern teams with some history, the SEC rarely plays home-and-home. Exceptions are complete mismatches like Bama/Duke and LSU/Cuse. I think Bama did schedule a series with PSU a while back and actually played the games.

Most of their OOC "road" games are neutral site games.

or......back to Birmingham for yet another BBVA Toilet Bowl

We got crushed by Ole Miss in that game one year didn't we! It was like 41-13. Is that part of your count? Or are you just counting regular season.

-The ACC loaded the schedule with SEC teams this year. And I fully expect the ACC to kick the SEC's ass in those matchups.

I'd love to see them come north too, but warm weather teams don't always under perform in cold weather (e.g. Miami coming into Pitt a few years ago and knocking the Panthers around in November). Thinking about it - who was the last legitimate OOC opponent Florida played in the regular season that was out of state?

Miami is kind of used to it, just because they always played someone northern from their independent.

Agreed that cold weather is not a guarantee of underperformance.....I thought it was hilarious when some of our fans complained about the timing of the Florida State game..... but as we agree, we'd like to see some teams endure it for once.

Syracuse I believe was Florida's last legit out of state ooc game. They were good back then. Of course Syracuse plays in a dome so weather is out of the equation.

UNC is not going to beat UGA. They still have no DL/LBs and can't stop the run. UGA's D is super-talented.

As a result, I think it will be like a GT game where you just never get enough touches for a fast-paced offense.

-Ill believe it when I see it. Georgia's best win last year was against 7-6 Penn State. They got clowned by every ranked team they played, although that has been a tradition the last 8 years under Mark Richt, constant disappointment, which is why they fired him. I expect Florida State to embarrass Florida and Ole Miss, and Clemson to run over Auburn and South Carolina, with Louisville blasting Kentucky again. I stand by my prediction of the ACC running over the SEC in these games.

I agree with all the other games, just not UNC. UGA did not have a QB that could run that system w/o the dominant run game. Now they do and Chubb is back.

That PSU/UGA game was quite the clown show though :)

Probably about as many as would like to go to those Southern states in July and August.
