Pitt vs VA Game Thread

That call screwed us so bad. We are going down for a FG that last drive and not forcing deep balls.
It was terrible. Probably cost us the game-but- we screwed ourselves repeatedly from the opening kick to the last offensive snap. This is not a good team we just lost to, and if we were any good it wouldn’t have come down to that F’d up call.

Crap effort tonight by the offense
Crap effort by the coaches, the offense, and the defense. You play like that you deserve to lose. This was a true Pitting. Dropped a garbage effort at home against a garbage team. We are not what our record says we are. We are a pile of shit set to rack up 5 losses in a row!

It’s probably not in the rule book to give the offense a penalty in that situation, but it seems to me that it should be a delay of game penalty on the offense. It can’t be nothing!
yes, it absolutely is. A ball is not in play until the referee is in position to officiate. Snapping a dead ball is a 5-yard penalty.

When Ball Is Ready for Play
ARTICLE 4 A dead ball is ready for play when:
a. With the 40-second play clock running, an official places the ball at a hash mark or between the inbounds marks and is in position to officiate

Starting With a Snap
ARTICLE 1
a. The ball shall be put in play by a legal snap unless the rules provide for a legal free kick (AR 4-1-4-I and II)
b. No player shall put the ball in play before it is ready for play (Rule 4-1-4 and AR 4-1-4-I and II)
PENALTY [a-b]—Dead-ball foul. Five yards from the succeeding spot [S7 and S19].

Poor OL play. Wr dropping balls questionable play calling at times by Bell and a royal Bone Job by the refs. With Nate as the cherry on top

Two Horrible pics. So glad we got him some snaps though. Lol

The loss was a total team effort. Penalties, dropped passes, turnovers, missed throws, coaching.

The OL failed to block on Sauls FG.

What killed the comeback is the holding call on the two point conversion. In the last series, Pitt should have had the ball with the score 31-28. That changes everything. The lack of urgency to score a TD is minimized.

Mistakes killed Pitt. I don’t know what the hell they were doing all week.

Last week's game was depressing, this week's game is maddening. I haven't been this pissed off after a Pitt game in a long time.
I said after the SMU game that Virginia was a must win or the season could spiral downward quickly. The coaching staff should’ve treated this game with the upmost urgency. They treated this game as business as usual.

But despite it all Eli was good though!

Don’t miss your lift home from Acrisure on the offense team bus

I don't think Pitt overlooked UVA. This offense requires competent QB play. When the QB play is atrocious, as it was again tonight, it's really hard to beat any team with a pulse.

You would think

Either their fault or the refs

Pitt does nothing wrong makes a stop and gets screwed
The officials spot the ball. UVA snaps it. The Panthers stop it. Their ball with a field goal to go ahead.. Oh wait. How the hell do you replay a down by claiming one official was't set? I have never seen that call before in watching football for over 50 years. ACC officials favor the southern teams IMHO. Total crap. Pitt needed to put distance between that call and the scoreboard earlier to still win. Still that replay is crap.

Last week started good with an almost interception on the first play from scrimmage. Two plays later a missed tackle (from not finishing) and away it went. Today it started with an offensive penalty.... and then another..... and possibly another (my brain hurts trying to remember if there was a third on that first series). It could have been on the punt which is still the same.

These opening series set a tone for the game..... and for two weeks we were not on point.
