Oh no doubt Florida. I expect the same thing next year. PA is really, really down. We are now like WVU and Louisville, schools without a local recruiting base.

the rivals 2020 was released and I think there was 1 western PA kid on it, the dude from mars. Narduzzi opening up recruiting to some of these southern states seems like perfect timing.

obviously you still go after the local recruit but in the past it was landing the base of your class with wpial kids and filling in the gaps with out of state recruits. Now, that has flipped and now you try to fill a hole or two with local recruits..

We are going to be handing out app 35 scholarships with this upcoming class and the next one. It's not crazy to think that 25+ of those we sign in next two classes are from a state outside of PA..

Yeah definitely will be more Florida kids than WPA kids.

Agree totally.

WPIAL is down this year and next and obviously it isn’t getting back to 70s and 80s levels. But the reports of the death of PA football are greatly exaggerated. PSU, ND and to some degree UM and OSU have cleaned up in PA the last few years. If you think Narduzzi wouldn’t have taken those kids you’re kidding yourself.

We just haven’t gotten them. It sucks and hopefully changes. But Pitt has still pulled some solid local players that aren’t Top 250 types. Just like they always have.

this upcoming year and next year ('20) it's plain dreadful. A few years ago, there was some high end talent. Whether it's cyclical or a trend or a fluke, is debatable.

What is certain is we aren't getting anywhere near enough for this upcoming class or '20 with local kids, even if they all decide on pitt. Maybe that downward trend changes course in '21, we'll see. Until then, we have to hit Ohio, FL, GA, NJ, MD, Virginia hard for the '19 and '20 class if we have a shot at getting some good classes.

It's okay. Pitt fans believe Florida players are totally underrated by the recruiting services.
Actually, this Pitt fan believes WPIAL recruits, with few exceptions ( Paris Ford, Tyler Boyd ) are overrated Prima Donna, Donna, Donna's coached by glorified Gym Teachers.

Tyler Boyd is in the NFL and every team that has competed for a NC in the last five years on this side of the Mississippi, save Clemson, offered Ford.

Not sure what you mean.

The old saying is "If you want to bag a Bear, go to where they been seeing' em."
The same applies for recruits, it matters not where the recruits are from, it matters that you go to where they are, if it is a down year in an area then you spend less time there, simple math on your time dictates as much, is not a knock on the WPIAL, other than to say population has had ( and will continue ) an affect over time.

It's actually simpler than that. Go get the best players wherever they are and convince them to play for you.

ImI saying that Tyler Boyd and Paris Ford are the exception to "players from the WPIAL suck". Which is generally true. Pitt, at best, should get 2 or 3 players from the WPIAL.
