I had two or three spare hours yesterday and I did a somewhat detailed analysis of Pitt's chances of making the NCAA Tourney...After applying several parameters against a wide array of data point metrics it appears as if their only chance of qualifying will be after a victory in the ACC Tournament Championship game...

Yes! And if we go on a phenomenal run after losing the remaining two ACC regular season games and get to but lose the NCAA final we can be the first 20 loss team to get to that game.

Don’t we have to win the acc tournament to make the big dance at this point? I would put that at 100 to 1. Possible but highly improbable. I would love for them to just win game or two to end the season on a hi note. Can’t see them beating one of the top 4 teams after that. But I’m proud of this team. They fought hard most of the season save the last game or two. I think we will be competing for a spot next year.

Honestly going forward we aren’t that far off. Look at Clemson and specifically NC St: NCSU is on the bubble and listed as last four in. They are .500 in conference have a terrible OOC loss and 1-7 vs top 25 teams.

Next years goal should be roll through the OOC. Hopefully have WVU down again and a good draw in the ACC/B1G. Don’t lose to niagara. Win at least one game in Ft Myers.

Then take care of bad teams in acc like BC, Wake, GT. Have two upsets like Ville & FSU this year and just like that we’re in the tournament again.

I hope handicapping isn’t your profession ! The thought that Pitt could win the ACC tournament beating teams like Va , Duke and UNC on back to back nights isn’t even in the realm of possibility.

Yeah, Team rankings puts Pitt's chances to win the ACC tournament at 0.01%. That sounds about right. What does that translate to, like 10,000:1 odds?

Just going as far as the semifinals is 0.9%.

We’re about 7 legit P5 level players short.

Until we get an ACC roster we aren’t beating anybody or going anywhere.
