Watching Xavier vs St Mary. He is distributing the ball, making entry passes and great decisions. WTF? Capel did not coach him up at all.

I think part of it was XJ felt like he had to do everything on his own and didn’t trust his teammates at Pitt and he has matured as well. I do agree that part of that is on the coaches.

He played like that here too……most of the time. But when he didn’t he was totally disruptive.

The big difference is he is passing to a borderline All American who can finish instead of Terrell Brown. They’re a shooter short from being really good because he gets their non shooters wide open shots constantly

I almost forgot how often Brown's inability to catch the ball - much less finish - cost us in those first few Johnson/McGowen's years.

We really needed a transfer big for that 2019-20 season (and preferably beyond)... and I'm not talking about Eric Hamilton.

Imagine if X was going to the rim and had even Hugley to dump off to instead of him. Hell we would’ve been better off playing Jeffress at the 5 than Brown

3 of 8, 11 pts, 5 assists, 5 TOs and his team lost by 29 points.

That was all due to him, and the rest of his teammates, playing a crappy second half.

I don't have the numbers in front of me right now, but in the first half Johnson was something like 3-5 from the field with 5 assists and 2 turnovers. Indiana made 11 shots in the first half and Johnson either scored or assisted on 8 of the 11.

And then the second half happened. They got outscored 27-5 in the first 10-1/2 minutes of the second half.
