to qualify for medicaid in PA, you need to make under2900/monthy, or under 5800 combined (if married). That's basically 16 bucks an hour or 34k annual salary...
sadly, you can work a full time job, 40 hours a week, actually show up and work, and still qualify for medicaid... i havent seen any breakdowns of people who work and receive medicaid with part time vs full time status... i'd venture a guess that most employeed people who qualify for medicaid in this country are working part time..
i have no issues with that. some people need to work part time, due to being single parents or other issues. yes, if you are an able bodied person and choosing to work part time due to your own laziness, and receiving medicaid, you are truly a POS dirtball leach but to be honest, they know that and well, probably dont care too much about what other people think of them..
too many loopholes in the system for able bodied people to not work and be on the govt/states Teet, taking and offering nothing in return. i know people who are on disability who have no business being on long term disability (i know that's different than medicaid). so there absolutely has to be some audits of these out of work people under the age of 60 who are on it and not employed..

Do the math if you make $15 an hour times 2080 which equates to a 40 hour work week you will make $31K a year.
yes, i did the math. 2901 a month is 34.8k. 34,800 annual salary, broken down to a 40 hour work week, you divide by 2080 which is $16.70 cents per hour..
so if you make 16.50 hourly, you can still work full time and qualify for medicaid (no OT of course).
which is exactly what i just said.
so we live in a country where you can work a 40 hour work week and have zero chance of living a life and paying your bills, rent and eating without govt assistance. that's upsetting. and well that will start another conversation that will go a million ways so we'll save that for another day..

So is the left upset about kicking illegals off Medicaid or able bodied American citizens that choose not to work? Those are the proposed cuts and most rational Americans would agree that trimming this kind of waste is good.
I am up for a compromise:
-work requirement for Medicaid for non-disabled single, childless adults
- raise taxes significantly on income over $1 million

This is a huge problem of mine. The richest country in the history of the world has tons of this type of 3rd world poverty. There are millions of Americans who can only afford to live, nothing more than that. Some will argue "survival of the fittest" but a lot of these folks can't help the environment which they were born into. Do we need to have the lowest tax rate in the world on billionaires, which translates into tons of 3rd world poverty, and in turn, high crime rates.
I'm sorry but I am 100% for some redistribution of their wealth. I would tax the crap out of extreme wealth. I'm not talking about some couple who is making $500K- $1 million per year between them. I'm talking about folks making $10 million/year plus. They can enjoy a great life and pay a 70% income tax on income over $10 million.
all that does is take money from wealthy and enable these programs that give 25-30 year old able bodied people more of a reason to not get a job. F them.

So you're for income redistribution and communism? Absolutely NOT! The richest in America pay the most taxes of any other class. If they are that successful, they should keep their money as much as possible with reduced taxes.
My goal at this stage of my life is to drastically reduce or eliminate taxes I pay and do it legally. That's what everyone should do. No need to give the money we earn to the government so they can waste it on income redistribution or wasteful spending on woke garbage. It's the government's job to find ways to more efficiently use the money they do get.
I'm for eliminating the income tax altogether and replacing it with a national sales or consumption tax on everyone.

What you guys dont realize is they purposely try to get you guys all riled up on things that don't affect your life (immigrants aren't going to kill you or take your job, a man isn't going to dunk on your daughter). This is done for 1 reason and 1 reason only, to keep their taxes low. I don't think any of you guys would shed tears if we taxed income over $10 million at 70 percent. But in a 50/50 country where elections are decided in just a handful of states, if they can sway a few folks on culture stuff, they can keep their taxes low.

The main reason I care about illegal immigrants is that they keep Dems in a position to win the House. Take them away from the census count and my #1 reason goes away. Though there are others.

The original intent of SSI was if you paid into the SSI and you retired at 65 and lived until 99 you would have collected 1 million dollars. Here’s the issue the SSI Trust was that a trust and the politicians couldn’t touch that money. But they didn’t adhere to the original intent. They moved money out of the trust which is illegal, spent the money other things.
You stop funding SSI then send me my money tax free.
Social Security was started as a safety net and was supposed to be temporary. Those who were wiser than FDR knew it was a Ponzi scheme and would not be sustainable. But here we are with a fund that the government sometimes uses as a slush fund for the connected politicians.
I would have liked the option when I started working to either have taxes taken out for SS or have that same amount of money deposited into an investment fund of my choice and managed by me. Of course, since the money you and I contributed was for those collecting SS at that time, and not for us, that would never happen. I guarantee that if I had the money I and my employer contributed to SS, my fund would be worth at least 10 times what my SS fund is worth and I'd have a higher net worth now.
