Yes Folks, it's in the plan. After an innocent Downtown lunch meeting between attorneys, the whispers got a little bit loud over drinks and the New Pitt Stadium is a "done deal"! The attorneys were discussing the bond issue by Pitt that would be necessary to build it along with two new athletic facilities for Olympic sports. Renovations for the Pitt Pool will be handled by the general fund. All the property on the Hill extending from Peterson Athletic Fields to the VA is owned by Pitt. Also, a large swath of properties on the other side of Center Avenue are owned by Pitt as well.

One important addition to the New Pitt Stadium is that a gigantic "state of the art", 360 degree enclosed glass view luxury box structure, banquet facility and club seating that will afford 360 views of the entire City of Pittsburgh. It will be built over the Cost Athletic Center. It may be a box shape or an oval. After looking at the elevation of Oakland compared to the rest of Pittsburgh, we truly are "On The Hill"! This new facility will be for year round use to Pitt, Alums and General Public. Also, in the stadium end zones, there will be Luxury Seating and Field Boxes with game action views. "Like sitting on the glass behind the goalie at a Pens game," said one of the lawyers. Also, the bowl stadium is the ideal cost saving structure with a potential second seating level on both sidelines. Be ready for Pitt to be selling naming rights to everything in the stadium including the seats!

The Cost Athletic Center will be the centerpiece of the New Stadium. It will be expanded and include all the lockers and team offices needed. Parking will be managed by a local firm represented by one of the lawyers. The idea is for parking to be used behind the Cost Center and around the Petersen Athletic Fields - all Pitt Owned property.

I can't tell you how fortunate this source was to be eating lunch at Meat & Potatoes last week.
Let's thank those martinis as well! Loose lips build Stadiums at Pitt!

It's time you see someone professionally zeta. Whether that is a psychiatrist or a hooker, I am not sure but it's time you find someone professionally to speak to.

Meat and potatoes sucks btw. Very over rated.

Why be so rude when I am only trying to add information to a healthy discussion. You may not understand everything that was being discussed which is why I am always happy to help you learn more about building stadium. Cheers

I offer the same to you my east coast hoops friend. Increase your knowledge before you criticize.

Why is it that it is always the same posters who personally attack me every time? I'm going to report this to Mr. Peak.
Ok, I was just kiddin, no attack at all. I question the legitimacy of this earth shattering news, that's all. If it is correct, you get credit for breaking it.

If this were true, I'd be happier than anyone on this board. A glass dome over the cost center, we'll count me in.

They didn't hire the world's leading stadium builder to tell them they need a new band building. Populous was hired for a reason.

Agreed 100%. Though we really do need a new band building, the basement of Trees sucks. The band kicked ass at the Pinstripe Bowl. They even got a positive mention on the national radio show I was listening to on the long ride home. It's time they get a little love.

The basement of trees. Miss those racquet ball courts where you'd climb over the railing to climb onto the ladder to climb down onto the court.

I'm thinking the oc lot is going be turned into something.. Ive seen a group of people taking pictures and writing stuff down multiple times over the past two months. Additionally the sports dome pretty much replaces the cost center. Not saying its definitely going to be a new stadium but I wouldn't be too shocked if a new building of some sort is added on the lot

Ha, yeah. I was down in one of those courts a lot during my years at Pitt. I even remember being down there when 9/11 happened.

I also remember using the tunnel running between the Trees basement and the field house often while in the pep band. Much appreciated during the winter months.

That very well may be but eastcoasthoops nailed it. The OP knows nothing. He's posted all kinds of wild stuff as well as a web site and 5th grader could come up with.

Now he knows someone who knows someone who overheard this conversation.

Bwahahahahahahaha.

That tunnel is cool. Not related but the campus of un. Of North Dakota is like that. All buildings connected by underground tunnels to avoid going outside.

Pitt should build something with a little height there. Image the views of downtown and Oakland from there. Better yet, put a big lighted Pitt script logo on the top that can be seen from all points around town.

That's because the kid next door is a traveling party frosh.

The only thing plausible about the OP statements is the location.

In the context of location for an on campus stadium....trees hall would be roughly the field between the 20 yard lines

Open oval stadium....one end zone looking out over the cathedral. ....the other end zone looking towards downtown

Everything in trees hall except swimming pools can be included in the new stadium.

Next time you go to a hoops game. .... look at trees hall and envision this idea

Wow. So what you are saying is that the University owns the OC Lot and the Cost Center/Towerview garage? Who knew?

Oh, that's right. Everyone knows that except, apparently, for you. I mean you realize that that is the only thing in between the Petersen Complex and the VA Hospital property, right?

Do us a favor, will ya? Don't post anything else about this new stadium until they announce when the first game is scheduled. Again: please do inform us of the date of the official grand opening, but not one word until.........we like surprises. ;)

Sounds like it was a great lunch and there were a lot of details discussed which also is great news. It also sounds like the work designed will take a lot of work/time.

What is the estimate for when a public announcement for these plans will be disclosed?

Our best chance of having a stadium up there would be if the VA relocated and Pitt got that land. Since they renovated and built a new parking garage up there a few years ago, it's not happening anytime soon.

Just look at a satellite image. The land Trees sits on is too narrow for a football stadium.

Hope it has a retractable roof.

I only wish it were true so that I could become a season ticket holder again.

And Meat and Potatoes is excellent. Disagreement on that point deserves a 302 as well.

Disagree...crowded table setups, noisy, limited menu. WTF is up with the marrow garbage? Hipsters just parrot crap they hear, I guess. At least it's in a great location.

It might be true....and if the OP has this many construction details he can give us, then he can surely give us a time estimate for when these plans will be made public. Until the plans should not be taken seriously.

That's every where in Lawrenceville. I don't get how anybody can do anything there. I don't think Picolloe Forno has heat in that place. They all suck. Hipsters love their tight pants, why wouldn't they like their eating environment tight also?

It certainly is noisy and crowded. The food I have eaten there has been excellent.
