" We are size deficient. Even when they were playing small, they played small to try to match us. That would be the major thing that I would say.”

Note to DT - I believe that is what I stated in my earlier thread.

Buzz plays small and Jamie feels he needs to follow suit. What results is we lose our structure, rebounding and inside play advantage. We start to play helter skelter and one on one (how many assists did we have?). That is Tech's style, not ours, They are an open floor team we are not. Why play into their hands?

I just came away from this game like I come away from so many games with this particular group of players - it is almost like they try to lose these games. This was like the Miami game. VT played like flaming vomit for 30 minutes, and they went out of their way to play like acid filled flaming vomit.

They should have run Miami off the court LONG before Miami got hot and took control of the game with 10 minutes left.

More to your point, it was like the Purdue game where, despite them shooting the three like someone who had spent the night drinking long island ice teas taking a sobriety test, they just kept jacking them up.

I know it is about Jamie to an extent, but I can't fathom he was OK with what they were doing offensively, and was pulling his hair out about them playing that way.

I have a hard time understanding what happened after we lead 19-10.

We started strong, ran our offense and got good shots to get to 19-10. I think I remember us taking a couple early (but good look) shots that we missed right after that. Something happened after those misses.

Vir Tech made an adjustment and upped their defensive pressure (an example: Robinson got trapped and was called for a travel before he was allowed to call timeout). With the increased defensive pressure, we were (once again) completely taken out of our offense (or maybe Robinson was on the bench with fouls - I don't remember).

Jamie was unable to make any adjustment or personnel move to get our offense back on track.

Pretty simple this team has a track record of letting its shooting affect its focus on both ends of the floor. They had at least three wide open threes in that stretch you mentioned and couldn't hit the ocean. VT recognized that and took away the penetration into the lane knowing Pitt was off shooting. Eventually VT was able to get into an offensive rhythm because as usual when things don't go well on the offensive side of the court this team becomes mentally fragile and collapses on the defensive side. We've seen this moving way too many times the last two years to be surprised.

The simple explanation is that no matter what players were in they couldn't score.

So your answer is just a bad shooting night - Nothing could be done about it - Forget about it and move on?

Do you think Buzz really meant that or was he just setting Jamie up for the next meeting?
