Take this for what it is worth but Fox News is reporting that Hamlin has been intubated and that doctors, at this time, expect him to pull through this medical crisis.
I know stories change as these reporters are all trying to be the first to scoop the others on a news story, but I sure as hell hope that this is an accurate statement by the doctors involved.
2 positive things I'm trying to think about
1. Christian Erikksen from Denmark making a full recovery
2. Damar being introduced and honored courtside at a Pitt basketball game in a couple months.
Praying for the best
The football game is so far down the list of important things to do now. It can be postponed until every one of the players on both teams say they're ready to play. If it's in 3 or 4 weeks, so be it. It's just a stupid football game. The rest of the league can deal with it.
He'll sit tight until morning rounds. Then they'll look at his blood gas results and decide if he can wean from the ventilator. That is assuming his cardiac function is fine.
Decisions like these happen in daylight hours with full staffing resources and well rested senior clinicians calling the shots.
No meaningful updates will happen until 9-10 am as there will not really be any new information.

Assuming his cardiac function is fine, and he can wean from the ventilator, would that be a sign the long-term prognosis is good, or would that require more testing? What would be the major obstacles then going forward on the path to recovery?
Cal Adomitis is also with the Bengals (shown in uniform last night kneeling with other Bengals) and his Pitt seasons overlapped with Hamlin.
