Psu noon kickoff

think we all saw this noon start time coming.. hope some of the other home games are 3:30, noon games annoy me.. I will say that I hope the Clemson game is at noon. I want no parts of death valley at night.. Incredible atmosphere to watch, but not when it's your team..

If Clemson is a noon, I can hit the road and drive most if not all of it home.

Glad it's noon. Already going to be enough drunks around. Night game would've been rough for us sober folk or merely buzzed folk.

no place for sobriety in the vicinity of a pitt/psu game.. We don't tolerate your kind..

Of course it is noon. Pirate overlords want the 7pm slot and get it.
I read a post on here saying that pitt asked the pirates to change and they said no. No idea if its true or not. If anyone can confirm, please do, then give me Nuttings home address so I can show him my appreciation personally.

I dont understand why the Pirates get first dibs. I realize their schedule comes out first, but they have 81 home games. Pitt has 7. For the 2-3 home September Saturday games that the Pirates have, they should be "TBA" until ESPN decides Pitt's game time.

I mean, seriously, is it asking that much for the Pirates to "TBA" 2-3 game times of their 81?

Why? They've flipped before. I think its more espn wouldn't commit this early to a prime time slot?

im not sure. I just know (or read so I don't know) that they asked, and were declined by Pirates. Would love if anyone could confirm.

a 1:35pm start for the buccos is fine. Reds too, not exactly a great matchup.. They could have helped pitt out here, IF what I read was true and pitt wanted an evening game.. If ABC/ESPN would have given them the 8pm slot but this was nixed because of pirates, I'll personally hide-strap nutting's ass to a pine rail and send him up the Monon Line (bonus points if anyone names the movie)

Nuttings donate tons to WVU. Any Pitt alum who gives their money to the Pirates and cares about both organizations is a fool.

Right and if they gave it a night slot this early, Pitt would have asked buccos and Liriano bobblehead to move to 1235 and I'm guessing they would have. I think the pitt/buc conficts do eliminate the 330 times which is a disadvantage.

I wouldn't blame Nutting. He runs a business and is out to make a profit. Having a game at night means more money for him.

Blame Pitt. We forfeited our ability to be flexible with game times with the move to the North Shore.

Yep. See Pitt and Notre dame 2005.

Let's not forget Pitt went 8-4 and psu went 7-5 last season. And the last time we saw Pitt a service academy was running all over them.
I don't know what other games are on that day, but I guess from a national standpoint there are more appealing ones.

So, the Pirates changed one time in 15 years? Bottom line is that sharing that space hurts Pitt and helps the Pirates, who can get lots of overflow traffic after Pitt games.

How about this as a compromise:

The Pirates have to TBA 1, just 1 of their 81 home games. JUST ONE. The other 1 or 2 Saturday September conflicts, go ahead and do your 7:05 first pitch......but just give Pitt/ESPN control of 1 Saturday/September game.

There's VT-Tennessee at Bristol and...I don't know, Ole Miss and Wofford?

I have no idea how the game landed at noon, but it sucks big time. I'm going to try to organize an alumni event on the west coast and a 9AM local start time is horrible.

Cruzer

How could u possibly be shocked? The Pirates have a night game with fireworks afterwards.

Noon starts are tough for the dedicated out of towners.
4:00 am -departure via the large gas guzzing SUV
8:30 am -arrival in Pittsburgh
9:00 am -check into hotel hope you get a room early
9: 30 -relax have a few drinks at the hotel with friends and other PITT fans
10:00 -scramble to local bar to meet friends
11:00 -rush to tailgate
noon - be in seats for kick-off

Blame the Pirates all you want, but this game had Noon on ESPN written all over it from the time it was announced 5 years ago.

Huh?

I live 300 miles away. For a noon game....
Leave sometime Friday. Even if I leave at 5pm, I get into my hotel by 930pm.
Leave to go to the game at 8am or so.
Game ends by 4pm, usually sooner. Almost always stop by Burghs and Sarris' s on the way home, usually I'm done with that by 5pm.
Get home by 9pm

The330 pm start is the rough one for me, as that means I have to leave by 8am to get there in time, or spend Friday night in town and get home at 1am.

Northshore bars too! We used to go to Southside now its Northshore hotels and bars.
Should be a fun packed Saturday and Sunday morning for us PITT fans staying in hotels since I guess they'll be packed with Nitters. I guess?
The time that's always keep your eyes wide open time is right after any home game when we file out and go to a bar for drinks and dinner after a PITT win.
Most away team fans are fine but some aren't and I guess this will be interesting with a lot of angry Nitters hanging around. Unless they win which isn't likely.

We live 300 miles away too but leave Saturday morning to save a Friday night hotel room bill. We like hanging around Pittsburgh after the games on Saturday since that's the fun night especially after a win! Hate driving 5 hours after a game Sunday early is better for us!
Everyone has their own preferences. I know people who do the 300 rt on game day which is crazy!

I've done the round trip before. Never again.
Both games being losses didn't help. (Bowling green and Rutgers 2008)
