Question about the T-shirts

At tonight's game they gave the zoo and the fans black shirts with glow-in-the-dark print that says "Pitt is Lit".

I don't recall them ever lowering the house lights though to show them. Did they, and I missed it?

Can I blame it on Stallings?

I thought the same thing. My guess is you would need black lights to see it, so not happening at the Pete.

Why only 5K shirts though? Maybe 7K? 8K? It makes no sense to me. It was a nice idea, but didn't pan out. And btw - the juggernaut created from the construction of the main entrance steps PLUS all the free student tickets was not the best plan. I'm usually very supportive when it comes to the Pitt administration, but tonight was not a good look IMHO.

The lights were lowered during the Pit player intros as always. The t shirts did glow. My seats are behind the Pitt bench. Looking over at the zoo on the opposite side the glow was clearly evident.

No, it glows in the dark, no black light required. Frankly I didn't know it glowed, couldn't figure out why it said Pitt is Lit until I was driving home from the game, and heard and commercial selling tickets for the game (yes, after it was over), and they mentioned the glow in the dark shirts. So I when I got home, I turned the lights off, and sure enough.

Right, sure. I'm behind the zoo this year, so didn't see them. Thanks.

We’ll probably find out the shirts were made in Chernobyl. Maybe we can blame Stallings when we all get some kind of radiation poisoning. :(

Very cool. Perhaps if they had more than 5K we may have seen them.

Don't get me wrong - I'm personally not looking for a free t-shirt. But in the past they had a yellow out where basically everyone who showed got a yellow shirt. In fact they would pan the crowd to show someone who wouldn't put on the given shirt to embarrass them. This was a miss from the AD.

For how much tickets cost, everyone should have gotten one. They seemed like nice shirts too.

Probably figured there wouldn't be any more than 5,000 Pitt fans actually there. Didn't want to waste the money to buy 12,500 of them and then only give away several thousand less than that.

They probably had to figure theyre would be at least 7 or 8 thousand fans there but they could save some money & also reward those that showed up early.

I think they would also consider that if there were 7 or 8 thousand people there that a relatively large number of them would be Duke fans who would have little or no interest in a glow in the dark Pitt shirt, unless perhaps they were a four year old, generally the target audience for glow in the dark shirts.

I hear you. But given the current state, they should have had more. I know I'm splitting hairs, but this was THE game to go all out. They did not for whatever reason. Next time, don't call it a black out, just give it to the students.

Great except one, they did take them because let's face it, they're local, and two why have we sunk so far to doing math on how many opposing fans will be there? Sorry - very frustrated tonight. (I'm taking it out on the t-shirts, I'll admit.)

They were really close to going all out too...all the hype they gave the game, cool t-shirts, etc. only to be blown out of their own gym on national tv by 30+ points. Nice.

I don't want anyone to think my criticism is taken lightly. This is not about the stupid tshirts - but more about my personal frustration. I am struggling to come to terms with where we are today, minus all the past - just TODAY. You have a simple theme for a game that can't be orchestrated because of a lack of quantity? There is so much that can't be changed because of finances, but buying more t-shirts seems like a really simple thing.

And really, how much did Pitt even actually pay? Don't the sponsors of these sorts of give aways bare most of the cost of them, simply so that they can get the free advertising by having their company name on the back of the shirts and the numerous mentions at the game and on the radio that they are the sponsors?
