REALLY liked the 1 - 4 set to close the game out tonight

XJ out high. The other 4 spread across near the FT line, ready to scramble and fan out in different directions. Very tough to defend that. And with both XJ and Trey being excellent FT shooters (not sure what happened vs Louisville other than it was an aberration) it makes it even tougher to defend Pitt late with a lead.

Of course, the key is to have the lead late to be able to use that more often. But sure hope to see a lot more of it.

Great job by the players, the coaches and the fans tonight. Thought the defensive plan and execution, in particular, were just tremendous. Lots of fun for the 2nd time in a row at the Pete. Hope lots more coming, too.

I posted the same thing on the pay board. When I saw Capel call it out, I immediately reflected back on last season and the lack of strong coaching. And then when X made the 3pt game, it basically sealed the game and the play illustrated to me everything that’s right about this program right now.

I'll have to read your post. Just got back home. I have about a 90+ minute drive depending on weather.

But Pitt has just about the PERFECT personnel to run that. Quick. Good ball handlers and passers. Good FT shooters as the primary guys with the ball.
