Good point - they probably won’t cover those postponed sec football gamesAh, that’s why they moved the CBB season. Oh, wait, it wasn’t moved. Networks controlled nothing being changed.
Did the college football season get moved to spring like it was suggested it would? One event was moved from its original season and you’re trying to prove me wrong like it’s the rule when I know for a fact why it wasn’t moved. The TV networks want MARCH madness.Good point - they probably won’t cover those postponed sec football games
This is a silly argument t
They care about the ad revenue - not the calendar
The networks have shown they don’t care when

The Masters is being played in November because the other choice was to not play it at all. If they ever get to the point where the choices are the play the college basketball tournament in June or to not play it at all then it will get played in June.
But rest assured that the NCAA, CBS and Turner ALL would prefer the games be played in March rather than June. In March they compete against late season NHL and NBA games. And that's about it. In June (especially next June) they will be competing against the NHL and NBA playoffs. And the MLB regular season. And the possibility of nice weather getting people off their couches and outside. What do you think the reaction of Turner would be if the NCAA said hey, we don't want you showing that Boston - Miami, Houston - Lakers NBA playoff doubleheader on Thursday night, we want you showing the 5-12 matchup followed by the 4-13 game from the East Regional? Because my guess is that the NCAA isn't going to like it, not even a little bit. And what are the ratings going to look like for that Mississippi State - Liberty game going against that Boston - Miami game, or the Virginia Tech - St. Louis game going against the Lakers - Blazers?
Playing the basketball tournament in May or June is an absolute last resort move.
The networks don’t want May Madness. They want March Madness. College basketball is controlled by TV.
Sure during normal times. They also don't want the games played in a bubble with no fans and no atmosphere but that's what its going to have to be. May Madness could have been played in packed arenas.

There is literally almost 0.% chance the season ends on Time right now
I gotta think the power leagues, esp for basketball, had better have some “bubble” contingencies. I realize we are talking about unpaid athletes, but if these schools have gone all remote anyway, I would bet the Pitt basketball team would rather play hoops in Charlotte in a bubble than just sit in dorm rooms or at home. They’ve only had like 8-9 months...but for some reason I’m not optimistic
Because a bubble is too expensive and it stops the NCAA from being able to make $ off the backs of “student” athletes. They aren't smart enough for that. Instead, the season will be canceled. Cases are at all-time highs. Deaths are nearing that level. And college basketball's plan is to "play as normal." Its not going to work. They need to push back the season or play in a bubble. Would it be so difficult for the ACC to put up the players at hotels in Greensboro and play there? No one is going to be on-campus next semester anyway.
Not to mention, students are going home for Christmas at thanksgiving this year. Isnt THAT a bubble? The NBA bubble cost over $150M. Is the NCAA footing that bill? The colleges and universities that are already strapped for cash?

The release from Pitt the other day about the schedule and plans for people attending games noted that there would be extra tickets available for "regular" people for the games in November, December and January because students will either not be on campus or will be back but will be quarantining during those times.
There will be nearly eight weeks starting at the end of next week where there will be no Pitt students on campus. Seems kind of bubbly, no?
With 94 percent of D1 programs who decided to play up and running in early February and on track for a worry free MARCH madness, I wonder if @Sean Miller Fan will finally bow to his master.
I love you quadrupling down on your terrible prediction and clearly wrong stance. It’s quite hilarious. This was an all time L for you.No. I was thinking the other day, how much better it would have been if they started games in early to mid February and had the Final Four around Memorial Day. With COVID cases on the decline in PA, even a state that has been pretty strict, would probably allow fans in the Pete by March/April. They then could have played the NCAAT in a state without COVID restrictions and had 50%-75% capacity arenas of vaccinated fans.

President Biden is trying to intervene and have MLB delay their APRIL start. Wonder if he would’ve done that for unpaid collegiate labor?
1. Congrats on conceding what I told you from the beginning. The TV networks rule college basketball. Huge L for youThe decision was made for CBS and Turner. They dont care about fans in the stands or player health. As long as they got the tournament when they wanted it, all else be damned. I dont think anyone would argue that if you take the money factor out of it, a Feb-May season would have been best especially now that vaccines are here.

2. Vaccine doesn’t prevent you from being a carrier or transmitting. Would’ve been minimal fans in attendance either way and most likely none like the NBa is gonna do.
your continual bad takes on CBB are wrong.
And that’s not gonna happen in May. Not in any sport. Certainly not in college sports. You were way offThe vaccine reduces your risk of getting COVID by 95%. If 20K vaccinated fans attended a sporting event, there would probably only be a handful of people who had COVID and the risk of those vaccinated COVID people spreading it to other fans who have also been vaccinated is minimal.
