I understand NIL and whichever team has the most money to throw around go ahead and do it, but their should be consequences of schools reaching out to kids not in the portal, the NCAA is weak and should be embarrassed that they have no control what so ever!!
As expected, Welsh is going to PSU. I wonder what Ryder’s going to do now. Will he stay or enter the portal?
Not many guys have left there when they have another hammer at their weight, but if he does, he will be expensive
I would expect Ryder to stay and fight for a spot this year. If he can't win the spot at 184 he will probably burn the year training at PSU then either look to go 174 once Haines graduates or hit the portal
Ohio State has brought in Cody Chittum for 157/165 and it sounds like they are also pursuing a 149. If they add a 149 that would mean Mendez isn't moving up and Bouzakis would have to either fight for 133 or suck down to 125. If Ohio State gets a 149 then the odds of us getting Bouzakis increase, however, I could see him staying at Ohio State and being willing to sit if he can't get into the lineup

Seconded, Ant is still on campus and seems happy with the team at the moment and it seems based on everything we have heard that Vinnie's departure does not seem indicative of any personal issues
That is good to hear. He will be really tough as an upperclassman. There were times this year that I wondered whether 141 was his best weight class? He looked pretty small out there.
I know he cuts hard to make 141, but I agree that he is not big for the weight class. I think he could make 133 but it would require a harder cut and keeping his walk around weight as low as possible which is a lot of work
James Lledo is in the portal with one year left. I would expect he ends up at a school like Edinboro for his last year of eligibility, but he also seems mainly focused on MMA at this point. If he is willing to be a depth guy, I could see him returning to Pitt for MMA training and just as a backup at 174-197.
I know he’s entering the transfer portal to get paid but man it’d be nice if we could somehow swing Dean Peterson from Rutgers at 125lbs
Pat Mineo been posting about that to X. Seems to still be fielding offers though, or at least trying to solicit them
I think my top 3 realistic targets would be Bouzakis, Gill, Jaxson Rosselli in that order. I doubt Kilkeary will hit the market, I think McCrone going 1-2 at nationals for the second straight year leads to him redshirting and Vinny being the clear starter next season.
Soldano would be an amazing get for 184 but I don't know if there are any ties there. He is not from the same part of Jersey as the Brick guys.

Soldano would make Reece look consistent; he is so up and down, but he would be a really solid pickup.
McCrone doesn't have a RS anymore, he used one in 2023. Kilkeary will have to beat him out or outperform him next year to earn 125.
Is Rosselli a target? He didn't wrestle in 2025 and appears to be done for good, he also was not that high of a recruit where I would expect him to contribute after coming back from a year off. I mean I would be happy to take him but I would not expect him to be a gamechanger.

Rosselli wasn't a premier recruit but he was really solid. There's a good chance he could improve our lineup if he wanted to lace up again.
Im out on Soldano, personally. He is an all or nothing wrestler. Would drive me insane watching him wrestle.
Otherwise, I haven't seen much in the portal that fits Pitt well besides Bouzakis and Gill. Im hanging my hopes one of those two
MacKay to D2 Gannon, I think he can make some real noise at that level
Thats a great move. Was kinda hoping he'd just go to UPJ. I think he'll AA or even more at D2
He’s from New York, and that would be an incredible get, but I don’t see Pitt forking over the NIL money required to get a top-tier talent like him
It seems like it’s almost a done deal he goes to Oklahoma state, which will most likely lead to Brayden Thompson and/or Jersey Robb hitting the portal. The dominoes are all falling.
There are rumors that PSU brought in Welsh because DT and Okie State have been on Ryder for a few weeks. Also, there are some rumors out there that DT has been burning every bridge, including leaking the info about Brooks before the Olympics to try and take the spot. There is even a rumor that he and Dake are not speaking anymore because of DT actions.
Kyle Scott has committed. 2x PIAA medalist and was a Fargo AA. Not a nationally ranked guy but from the limited matches I have seen I remember he is just a strong kid. Likely a 197
Seems like many of the PSU guys are bitter about DT leaving. I’m a fan of DT. Seem like a great mentor and leader for young kids. Always says the right things. Plus I feel it would be good for the sport to have a team knock off or at least challenge PSU.
Incredible results this season with Hamiti and Hendrickson both beating a national champ in semi and finals. Spratley also in finals. Those were 3 guys DT and staff helped take huge steps. If I were a top recruit or a backup at PSU. I know where I would go.
Not sure what PSU expected. DT had desire to be head coach. Cael came from another school. You’re allowed to leave and have a career. NIL and transfer are a part of college sports. Coaches develop teams by bringing in guys they had relationships with.
Mixed on Taylor. Love the fact there is a legitimate challenger brewing to PSU dynasty but not doing it the way I like to see it. He is about to get Figueroa who was national champ in 2024 from ASU. Another guy who entered the portal only to commit seemingly a few hours later. I know it’s the new NCAA but I hate it
100%. Hard to say which side to believe. Naturally they love you until you leave. Then the rumors start.
Nice to see kids get money. Outside of that NIL and portal not a fan. Filters top kids to the few elite teams.
