Regional Semi VB vs Washington St.

Seems like Pitt always starts slow and then gets in the grove, winning the first set would be huge

When we started 7-1 in the second set, they ran off 3 straight to make it 7-4. I’m screaming to Fisher to take a TO. He doesn’t. We go on a run. And another run. Suddenly it’s 14-5.

Fisher is smarter than me!
Dan knows his team well.

Geez. Paul Sunderland is old. I remember when he started doing beach volleyball. He was just a kid.
Not as old as Paul but I remember him. Interesting background. A high school football and basketball star.
Went to college originally on a basketball scholarship, I think Oregon, got into beach and club volleyball and he really liked it.
Transferred to play volleyball and basketball somewhere else. Made himself into an elite player and was on national teams.
Was on the 1984 Olympic gold medal team.

He knows the game and is a very good announcer, unlike the clown that did some of our ncaa games last year, and all he could say was”tool the block”

That was a clinic for this late in the tourney!

I do wish Louisville would have lost to Creighton, but let's do the job they couldn't do!

H2P!!!
To be honest, I’m glad they’re playing Louisville again. There’s no mystique about either team for each other. They know each other so well. Creighton is a very good team. I guess it’s better to play the devil you know…

Back home now....great game....once in the grove there was no way WSU could compete with our ladies. I've seen this before....we can just wear an opponent down....and then the other team becomes demoralized. The crowd was OK but not spectacular.....maybe because it was a weekday afternoon. Saw some familiar faces....Kayla Lund and Chinaza Ndee....Ben Roethlisberger with his wife and family wearing Pitt gear.....pretty cool. I expect the crowd to be nuts on Saturday.

We completely dominates the match - just impressive in every phase.

Our service - including our service specialists - game is excellent- we kept them out of system all afternoon- throw in like 8 aces

Babcock was woman of the match - but so many great performances- Stafford is so good , VVG is quietly ( or not so quietly) really playing well.

Saturday will be special

Very good. It was Oregon. He went there on a Basketball scholarship. He had started playing beach volleyball in high school as a way to meet girls, but he got really into regular volleyball in college, playing for the club team at Oregon. Then he transferred to Loyola Marymount.

He was a really good FB player in high school too. He went to Notre Dame HS and played WR. My cousin went to Loyola at the same time and played against him.

When he and Karch Karily used to do beach volleyball broadcasts regionally on TV, Karch used to always kid him about being the oldest guy on the 1984 gold medal team. The US team didn’t qualify in 1976 and boycotted the 1980 Olympics.

He really knows the sport and is a pleasure to listen to.
