Noticed a couple of things I hadn't before:

Pitt was still in it at about the 3:30 mark only down 32-35.

All 5 Pitt 3-balls were made in that 1st half---5/9 at one point. Since Pitt finished 5 for 23 they were 0/14 after that--terrible 3-ball shooting. Compare to WVU's 8/21.

As others have observed--no ability to stop dribble penetration--"matador" defense--wave as they go by.

Make no mistake; we are a bad team. But bad teams can play really good basketball in stretches. And that is what you saw early on.

The on-ball defense is what concerned me the most. It was like we had no chance to keep the WVU player in front. Something overlooked about this team is its lack of athleticism. Cummings, Burton, Sibande on 1 leg, Santos, Elliot. Not great athletes, not quick enough to stay in front. We may have to play zone and pray the other teams have an off night shooting. But teams usually shoot 70% from 3 vs us in the 1st Half for some reason.

That was my 1st quote after seeing this team. It's not an athletic team at all.
They probably need to learn how to run a zone D better.

Certainly we are a bad team without Hugley. Maybe with him we still aren’t really good; but we will certainly be a lot better than we showed vs West Virginia.
We'll see.

I'm trying hard not to bash this team after one loss, but if some of these guys don't play a lot better Hugley won't matter. I hope I'm wrong. We've suffered enough.
