Russell Wilson....

QB is most important player on the team. Thankfully the Steelers figured that out….oops never mind.

The guy that was third on the depth chart just a couple of years ago. Yeah two above average games and suddenly he is a superstar. LOL
That’s not it at all.

1) do you really think Tomlin knows what he’s doing with QBs? He had them under the tutelage of Randy Fictner and Matt Canada.

2) Mason can lead the team to 8-10 wins at 4 million just as easily as Russ can for 20 million.

3) maybe Mason stinks enough that the Steelers are in better position to grab a QB in next years draft. Russ is capable of that too.

4) maybe Mason shocks the world on 4 million dollars and wins 11 or 12 games.

5) all that said I’d be shocked if Mason is the day 1 starter. Rodgers will be here. Or someone else.

I've seen internet rumors that Wilson and the Steelers began butting heads after he changed too many plays in the Cincinnati game (the one where they scored 44 points). Funny if true, but somehow a Steelers message board seems like a place where you take things with a grain of salt.

It's all setting up for a trade up in 2026 .
They have like 3 3rd rounders already in 26 as of now.
But if they wind up again with 9 or 10 wins it’s gonna take more than that to move up to a meaningful spot. And if they sign Rodgers I’m guessing that is probably about where they’ll be.

Yeah they may have to trade alot more than the extra thirds.
Eh , that's a long ways away.
Honestly, Mason is just too boring for my taste to watch all season.
Also, they might just select Dart this season.

Rodgers = status quo.

Rudolph + trading Pickens = probably setting themselves up for a pretty decent draft position next year where they can hopefully begin to/continue to turn the franchise around.

The first one is certainly more entertaining in the short-term, but we've seen enough of that trick as of late, in my opinion.

good lord that's a ton for russell at this point. giants are idiots

I don't really think so. I doubt it's fully guaranteed plus Pittsburgh seems to be the place quarterbacks go to die now. I think it is funnier that for the third straight year the Squeelers have a totally new QB room. At some point people have got to stop blaming the QB and OC in this town. There is more to it.

Steelers management is dreadful. Omar Kahn should be a manager of a used car lot. Rooney should still be reading contracts for a law firm instead of running a pro football franchise. Tomlin has the entire sports world thinking he is some kind of head on Mount Rushmore. He had Big Ben to lead the team to playoff victories and a Super Bowl trophy. all you get with these 3 clowns is a let’s try this strategy and see if it works. Pathetic

I wonder if there’s a way to get a deal with Kirk Cousins similar to the one they got with Russ last year. Of course, Atlanta would need to eat a massive cap hit but I’d take Cousins over Rodgers.

That would require Atlanta to cut Cousins then of course Cousins signing here instead of another team. If they traded for him the Steelers would take on his full salary.

And Atlanta just paid him a 10 mil roster bonus so if they had any intention on cutting him they likely would have done that prior to paying that bonus.

I'm not so sure Atlanta doesn't want to keep him around until a team gets an injury and is willing to pay up. They can be patient and wait for the right offer.

1. I don't think Tomlin knows a thing about quarterbacks. Moreover, he has never tried to learn or find somebody who does.

2. Agreed. Take Rudolph's salary..... subtract Wilson's..... and you should be able to have an extra player on the team with some talent. I prefer Rudolph anyway..... but give me an extra 15 million and it is Rudolph all the way plus some guy with talent (preferably a DL). We have Pickens, DK, receiver Wilson for the first time, and, Austin. If as a WR group they cannot get together.... trade them off in pieces. I do hope Wilson can be a true slot guy though. It's been a while since we had one.

3. I am all for a 2026 quarterback draft pick. When/if the 2025 season falls apart..... and assuming the young OL starts to perform....it will be the right time do draft one.

4. This is honestly possible. Rudolph throws a nice deep ball and has shown he can hit open hot recievers in stride. He supposedly now has receivers to catch them. Hopefully the Steelers get lucky with every single O-Line draft pick the last couple of years. But if the Steelers do manage to win 11 or 12 games during the regular season, they might get a playoff bye. Then the vastly overated Steelers defense will collapse against a top AFC team in the playoffs yet again.

5. I actually liked Rodgers, but his schtick is even wearing my ass thin. He and Tomlin had some sort of bromance going on over the years, hence why I think this bs is still going on. Tomlin needs to win right now....and he threw his chips down hoping for something better than he had. His bluff very well may be called and he will running out the guy he thought was worse than rookie Picket and Trubisky.

All the while, Rodgers needs to be stroked a little bit to make sure he is bigger than Tomlin........ what a mess.

If he calls Myles Garrett a racist name again like he allegedly did, it would not be boring.
If the Steelers are sitting at 6-9 or so with no shot at the playoffs with an understanding that they are going QB in the draft and Tomlin is likely out....... how bad ass would it be if Rudolph pulled a mean machine play and drilled Myles Garret in the nuts. All time Yinzer favorite? After the helmet beating and Garret winning the Defensive Player of the Year over Watt two seasons ago...... Rudolph wouldn't have to buy many beers in this town ever again.

From ESPN
"It was also believed that Wilson initiated a meeting with the Giants last offseason. But the Giants weren't willing to offer him the starting job last year." Guess that means the Steelers were.

Now tell me again who was afraid of competition 🤣
Anyone with even a tiny bit of common sense was that Wilson signed with the Steelers for essentially free with the agreement Kenny would be traded away .

It was very much part of the deal.

Wilson was jettisoned from Denver including them eating a massive dead cap space salary to be rid of him - and made the playoffs with a rookie .

The Steelers took him because he was free for a year , and wanted nothing more .

The Giants gave him a 1 year deal .

I don’t think you’re reading the situation right -
Wilson’s career is over .

Well I assume that’s why they paid the roster bonus and that was their gamble. He’s been linked to the Browns so we’ll see.
They signed the bonus as a hedge and with the hopes of getting something in a trade. It makes sense because the guy has a no trade clause he'd have to wave so he's behaving like a FA. Going to wait until after the draft which makes sense.

Rogers is still high on the Vikings' list. They are in more of a "win now" situation that the Steelers. I don't think Rogers does much to move that needle but that's just my lowly, free opinion.

This whole situation is just a disaster. They couldn't have botched the QB room any worse than what they did. Rudolph is no better and no worse than anything they tried last year. Would have been infinitely better off rolling with him and KP and letting them fight it out. We're probably going to see something really stupid happen, now, and it won't shock me if they don't try to reach in the draft or overpay to try to trade up.

5 years running on having a new starting qb to start game one. not a streak you want..

it's safe to say this Rooney is an apple that fell far from the tree.

Step One: Roll with Mason and put yourself in a position to draft around 14th

Step Two: Trade three firsts, two seconds, and two thirds to move into the top 5

Step Three: Drew Freaking Allar

I can just see Dulac's first report out of training camp....."Allar reminds me of a young Ben Roethlisberger at this stage, his grasp of the game is incredible"

We are likely going to need to draft a qb this year regardless for depth (hopefully in the 3-4th rounds like Mason was)

Best case is the season is tanked , and we draft our future franchise QB with yhe draft in Pittsburgh next year.

Mason does have a track record of leading a team to the overall #1 pick !!

words cant describe how hard it would be for me to root for Allar to succeed if this happened.

we all b*tched at wvu and psu fans for not rooting for kenny but i have to fully admit, deep down inside, i'd probably do the same if we drafted Allar in the first round..

It would be like if we sign Aaron Rodgers
My full yinzer dad has declared he won’t watch a game this season if he signs.

I could easily root for him if I thought he was a good player and I liked his game. But I don't.

i'd hope my fandom of the steelers would supercede my hatred for psu football IF he came in and immediately succeeded.. but who knows..

lets just hope this doesnt happen. maybe manning or the qb from south carolina would be options if we are going after our franchise qb in 2026..
