Ryan Baer to Pitt

You don't see guys this big move like he does, everyday. This kid supposedly is benching 425 and squats 540. If there was ever a kid that the staff should get in here early, it's this one. If they can clean up a couple things, he could be on the 2-deep for 2023.

Shit, starting his first year

Nice to see a highly-rated recruit on the offensive line. That's where this team needs to continue to build.

Look at Pitt’s 2022 recruit list. There are some mammoth, Wisconsin-like, size coming in. Hopefully translates to solid play on the field.

I love his foot quickness and control while moving. He has the ability to move under control and stays within in frame for his size. He is raw though. You can’t teach foot speed and mobility.

That being said his hand placement and punch is nonexistent at this point in his young career (that’s something that can be taught.) He leans a little bit when Defenders rip to the inside, but for the most part his pass pro and lateral quickness are ahead of most high school tackles. Also keeps his head out of pass pros (big plus.) would be shocked if he isn’t an OT in college.

Like his build too. More of a muscular OL as supposed to a fat blob.

Btw kid does bench 425, it’s all going to revolve around him working on his punch. Overall this is a kid who is going to be one of the better OL on this team.

Nice article on how the family atmosphere PN has created played a big role in the kid picking Pitt.

What about the bottom half of this class that is VERY underwhelming, kids choose schools for different reasons. We better get kids like him more often, or 7-5 for the foreseeable future, even with the easiest schedule in 50 years.

I like the fact Ryan and his family all seem to be 100% sold on his decision to commit to Pitt. Their enthusiasm on social media is cool, and he was pumping up Pitt to fellow OL commit Ja’Kavion Nonar in response to an article about Florida going after Nonar.
