over the next five years we still have six ooc games to schedule providing that the ACC remains with eight league games. The 2018 season is set with PSU-ND-Albany and UCF. But for the next four years openings persist, again another by product of having our third AD in the past five years. But I just noticed that Temple and Miami have booked a two game series for 2020 and 2023.Unless there is still bad blood between between the schools from Temple's ouster from the Big East why not a series with Temple - in fact for both football and basketball.Temple is now more than respectable for football and is in area where we recruit in the state and has a good deal of alumni and very accessible for the fan base. With the ACC much more competitive and Florida State coming up in a few years we need to be a little smarter in ooc scheduling and just schedule one power five team because -letsface it- we have not faired too well is series with these schools since the new century. Thoughts.

I don't mind temple as the defacto fcs game. I would still like a more marque name, but I like temple from the standpoint going to the linc is a nice stadium.

P.s. I don't want to act like Penn State fans and thumb my nose at temple. I am not equating temple to an fcs school. I think we should play better opponents than Youngstown State. I like the temple idea...

temple would be ok. don't we have Cincy in there somewhere? as much as I hate and scream and cry about the FCS matchups, they aren't going away. Even the big 10 is bringing them back, a conference that flat out made a rule of not scheduling them, is now scheduling them. So with that scrimmage a part of our every day reality, I like the two BCS teams, a respectable matchup with a non P5 team and the scrimmage...

I did not like Barnes stance on no away non P5 games. On paper it looks good but really caused more problems. Playing at cincy, at temple, at UCF, even at akron isn't the end of the world.

YSU - people complain about them, but they bring a good amount of fans and it should be a win. Almost everyone plays 1 team like this.

Tennessee - love this game. It is against an SEC opponent, and they will bring a lot of fans.

UCF - like this game. It should be a win, and we are recruiting FL hard

Cincy - makes sense. Played some good games against them in the BE

Albany - If u are going to complain, then this would be the one.

Temple is a very good G5 team but I would rather schedule a decent P5 opponent. Temple the past 5 years or so has been a top 40 type program, but if you lose to them it still looks bad, and if you win it doesn't do anything. Schedule a team like Iowa, Minnesota, South Carolina or Mizzou instead of Temple.

Temple would make sense. A lot of alums in Eastern PA, NJ, and D.C. metro. It would also benefit recruiting in those areas. I would not make it the marquee Non-Conference game, but nothing wrong with it being the 3rd or 4th best.

the QB from bethel park went to Albany, the HC's son. He was a pretty good athlete at BP. Not sure how he is doing at Albany, if he will be starter or not. I think Gattuso is their head coach up there too..

I get that, but the game does not benefit us in any way. YSU will bring a good amount of fans.

oh dude, no argument at all from me on that one. Don't even get me started on these FCS scrimmages. I'll save you guys yet another redundant rant, lets just say im not a fan of them, ANY of them.

That's pathetic. Need to try to drop Ohio or Delaware and get a P5 team in there
what are the chances Pitt buys out Delaware and gets a P5 team to come to Heinz for Labor day? none.. that schedule is set..

Was that Barnes or Pederson who scheduled this? It's a joke. The ACC should require 2 P5 OOC games.

no clue, Barnes is the one that said no to away Non P5 games.. But I think we have a home/home with Cincy. That's not for another 5+ years so who the hell knows what will happen then. We got Stephen Hawking telling us that we will all be gone anyways from aliens and asteroids or icecaps melting so the River city rivalry will probably not be a big priority anyways considering we'll either be dead or enslaved by a more intelligent race of aliens..

That's my freakin luck. We will finally have a labor day game at Heinz with no pirate home game, against a non FCS team and it will be a 6pm kickoff time, rib kick off too and aliens will come down and take my smart, good looking ass on their mother ship and i'll be stuck on that thing, with no TVs anywhere..

Some of you need a reality check. There are no HC that want to play 3 or more non-conference games that could be losses. A respected HC has a say in the schedule.

no respected HC is scared of playing temple at home or away.

Some mid-level teams I'd like to see on the schedule:

Temple, Army, Navy, UConn, USF, Houston

That's why you schedule two average G5 teams, and two P5 teams. No one is saying we need to play 3 top 25 teams OOC just don't play 3 cupcakes

USC coming to Heinz on Labor Day night 2019. Announced the same day next winter when Heather announces the hiring of Calipari or Sean Miller as Stallings replacement. Donors get yer checkbooks ready.

You act as though Pitt has been some dominant, established program that has steamrolled teams.

Which teams do you consider cupcakes? Then look back on our recent history as to whom we lost to. Reality check.

Agree, what benefit did they get out of losing to OsU, Iowa, Mich St, Utah, Miami, Navy, NC St, etc... out of conference?

so you want a softer schedule, no P5 teams. See I like P5 football, I want pitt to play teams that are in their same classification. I don't want pitt to pad their schedule against teams they have no business playing. I like Major D1 football, it sounds like you really don't. That's fine, we are all entitled to our own opinions. Personally, I like Pitt in the ACC and glad they are in a P5 conference, you seem to prefer if they'd drop down into a less competitive level.. Weird to me to be honest but hey it's your preference.
