Well, when you're ranked #1 in the season, have 30+ wins, but then lose 2 years in a row to Wisconsin to not make the final 4, I wouldn't say for that program it would be considered pretty good.
The eggheads always were in charge of athletics at Pitt and that’s OK.
What isn’t OK is that the eggheads seem to have never taken any input from the athletic department when it came to athletics department policy.

yea…the arrogance of Pitt’s administrators who have made decisions that are clearly detrimental to athletics has happened over and over…. also too many BOT members who have no real connection to Pitt. Crappy schools like Colorado St. New Mexico and Drake do a better job managing their hoops programs. Whoever blackballed Miller should have to walk the plank….self- righteous idiots. After the kind of season Pitt BB had heads should have rolled within days…2 weeks later and Pitt is still sitting g on their hands. Actions speak louder than words and Pitt’s actions say they are happy to just field a team, and if that’s their ambition, let them pay for NIL

Del, how is losing to Wisconsin when you are such a high seed and were ranked #1 at times during the season (and had 30+ wins) better than losing as some non-descript first round game?
First, I’m not sure that Wisconsin was as low a seed as you assert when they beat Arizona. I can’t diasagree with the point that IF Wisconsin were as low a seed as you suggest, that losing to them in the elite 8 round would be a worse loss than Jamie’s loss to Wisconsin. My general point on the Dixon loss was that Dixon’s loss to Wisconsin was one of the worst ever offensive performances in the history of the tournament. I acknowledge that my post wasn’t very clear and on its face a bit puzzling.
I think that most people who dislike him do so for pretty well defined reasons.
It has always struck me as odd how many people here care more about Sean Miller than they do about Pitt.
To me, he will always be the point guard on the most talented and entertaining Pitt teams to ever take the floor, and the trigger man for the most spectacular dunk in the history of the sport. I've never lived in PA and don't know anything or care at all about what happened between his old man and Pitt, so to me, Miller will always be part of the good old days at Pitt, and a Pitt legend.
See, this is a perfect example of what I am talking about. The issues between Pitt and the old man came AFTER the issues between Sean and Pitt. His old man reacted the way he did to stick up for his son. He wasn't the "instigator" of anything.
As I said, I don't know the story, and I don't care what it is. I care about how fun it was to watch Pitt basketball and be a Pitt fan then, and how abjectly $hitty is it now. Sean could play, and Sean can coach. Period.

I’ve heard well defined dislike from DT, and just dumb blind resentful hate from 97% of the rest of the numbskulls that criticize him on this board.

Miller was the PG on my favorite Pitt teams of all time. And he’s been an excellent coach. So yeah, I don’t really give a flying F “what the story is”.
But that's the thing. You have no idea, and I mean that literally, absolutely no idea at all, if anyone's criticism of him is "just dumb blind resentful hate" because you have absolutely no idea what anyone's issue actually is.
It is OK for you, or anyone else for that matter, to be a bigger Sean Miller fan than a Pitt fan. But at least admit that's what's going on. You have no idea what happened and you don't care, because you like Sean Miller. It's OK to say that, rather than pretend that the people who actually like Pitt better and don't like what Miller did are the ones who don't know what happened.
