SEC and BIG 10 laying the rules down

That doesn't make much sense. The Big 12 is just an assortment of decent programs that don't matter to the big conferences. They aren't going to raid the Big 12 because they already did. A & M, Nebraska, Texas and OU were the only valuable properties in the Big 12, and the Power 2 already added them.

What are they going to do? Put out a mob hit out on the Big12 commissioner. They are going to raid any conference they wish anyways.
they want their 2nd and probably 3rd auto bid into the 12 team playoffs. good question though, not sure what they are gonna do that they wont do anyways..

big 10 invited washington and oregon to pretty much end the pac 12 - apple deal.

This article was a waste of time. Nothing to it either. P2 VERY careful with antitrust issues and would never give any sort of indication that his author is stating….as long as the current construct, governance, etc is in place.

The commissioners of the XII, SEC and B1G and ND are mostly aligned on playoff format.

XII is no threat to other two and would be fine with 12 best, 6 and 6 or whatever. Wetzel and Staples have both repeated that XII would get 2 in most years, 1 in rarely and 3 in rarely. SEC, the most prestigious college football conference, will always get 4, B1G always 3-4 and then 1-2 for the Group of whatever schools.

(**this assumes that ND eventually does NOT enter ACC and the haves depart)

It's not like there was a source or anything. Just one blogger who probably read another blog. Or a message board.

As always, the TV people will decide what the made for TV playoff will look like. Just like they have been and will continue to do.

It’s not a playoff. It’s a pageantry. They won’t stop until the Big Ten and SEC are the only ones “represented.” What a disgrace.

Edit: The Big 12 (and ACC) should call their bluff and block anything they attempt to do moving forward.
There wasn't much of anything in the article, but this is how I see things. Most years, the SEC and Big 10 will get in at least 3 teams each without modifying any rules. Each league has excellent teams at the top. If they try to force the issue, there are more schools outside of the P2 than there are in. There are maybe 3-5 valuable assets to these conferences left in terms of adding to each conference. I don't think a P2 league with 30-40 teams would be successful over the long term. Just way too many teams excluded and while many would still watch the super league, there will be a significant amount that lose interest in semi-pro football.

Seems like a lot of nonsense. So much coming from bloggers masquerading as journalists. Then formerly legit news sites, like SI and USA Today, just higher bloggers to generate click bait crap to their sites.

So much out there these days, even coming from established journalists, that is just rehash of speculation.

Information is just a real mess. Unless it comes from journalists with proven track records, I wouldn't put much credence into it, and even they fall victim sometimes.

You are beyond delusional. You should join HTownstiller in the nursery. Delusional hoopie and nitters belong together obsessing over PITT.

I agree with much of this and while it MIGHT seem this should also be clear to the P2, some of the schools within are likely even greedier than some of the others (if that can even seem possible), so I’m sure there’s internal debate over how far to push things. The networks that broadcast the non-P2 as well as P2 (especially ESPN) need to be the ones that exert pressure on the P2, because as you say, there would be significant less viewer interest in non-P2 games if the P2 try to take the entire ball and go home.

The Big 10 has won one national championship in the past two decades. If anything, the Big 10 is getting in the ACC’s way.

Winning doesnt matter. Even fans dont want to see wins as much as their team making money. Its weird.

Well what should happen is if they continue down this path, no school play any Big 10 team in ANY sport. ANY.

That may be an inevitability regardless, at least for football. The Big Ten is already going to ten conference games. If the SEC does the same, I could see them either playing no non-conference ACC/Big 12 opponents at all or having their own ‘B1G/SEC Challenge’. Not playing them in other sports is an interesting idea.

Ding ding ding. ACC is the conference rivaling the SEC. Titles mean everything in this sport and what titles have the B1G won?

not a big 10 fan AT ALL but they have 2 extremely strong contenders this year in ohio state and michigan and dare i say, an outside contender in psu, although they'll lose to ohio state..

tOSU has 2 insanely good Wrs, possibly the best wr in college football in decades..

OSU is going to stink out loud this year with there trash D, crap OL and no one to throw the ball top there REALLY good WRers. Michigan is aight, a better version of us bc there OL might be the best in the last decade. PED St? They will be trash as always that cant beat a ranked team to save there life. Hopefully the cousin lovers down south beat them week 1 and wont be surprised when it happens.

Can a B1G team win the natty this year? HECK NO

On the other hand, they are still all going to bring home large wads of cash.

Everybody knows that a team from the SEC will win the national championship most years. It's so expected, that nobody holds that against the Big Ten. After all, even in the SEC, we are only talking about no more than 3 teams in any given year with any chance to win.

Titles don't mean anything when it comes to revenue. The number of alumni/fans from each state is really all that matters. The midwest has a lot of rabid football college fans, more than the all areas other than the southeast which has the SEC. that is the top reason, not performance.

Same thing in NCAA basketball. How many championships has the big east won over the last few decades compared to the b10? And it still doesn't matter when it comes to TV contracts and payouts.
