SEC won 11 of 12 against ACC teams

Scheyer seems to be doing okay. Davis has been okay at UNC, although off to a rocky start this year.

Losing Bennett obviously hurt, as he is one of the best. But that really has nothing to do with Virginia's downfall. UVA's downfall is a portal & NIL issue that occurred under Bennett's watch.

Duke is idiot-proof. Its THE brand in college basketball.

Pitt has 3 major conference Quad 1 wins…two away
from home. Including against a team from the all powerful SEC. They almost beat a Top 15 Wisconsin on the road after losing an important starter a few minutes into the game. It’s obvious to me it was an off night. It’s shocking how everyone is ready to write off the season after one bad game. They are still a top 15 (NET) team after the loss. It was one bad game. Everyone needs to get a grip.

This could be one of the best seasons this team has in 15 years. Enjoy the ride a little. Especially after the wasteland we’ve lived in the last 10 years.

LSU is going to tank now without their center. 4-14 in SEC is possible.

Sure. That could happen. But, it doesn't change the fact that Pitt handled them on a neutral when their roster was fully intact. That was a solid win.

It changes everything actually. The committee doesn't consider what the teams were like when the game was played. So if LSU tanks, that win will really mean nothing for our resume.

I just meant we know Pitt can handle a decent SEC team when they're at full strength. LSU has been good this year. Pitt's making the tournament baring more injuries so I don't really care whether LSU tanks. They were/are a NCAAT with that player. WVU is a NCAAT level team. Miss State and Wisconsin are as well of course. tOSU is also a NCAAT team. Pitt is fine and is one of the few teams in the ACC that's beaten a SEC team.

No it really isn't. I mean sure, to the people who think that college basketball starts around the second week of March. But people who pay attention to college basketball all the time know that there's a lot more to it than that.

Like did anyone think that the WCC was one of the best conferences in '21 because Gonzaga made the Final Four?
No- it would take having at least half the final four teams

Since we won the game it doesn’t matter . Same with Ohio state .
It would only matter if we lost .
Same with our losses or Wisky and mssu.

You avoid bad losses .
Mizzou ended being a very bad loss. Florida wasn’t .

Between Pitt's own performance and the ACC's overall beatdown, you won't hear me complaining anymore about being left out of the NCAAT. I've accepted that we now play in basically the A10.

Yea, I'd agree with that. I think Miss State is better than us even with Dunn and on a neutral court but its a team we can beat. I think Bama, Auburn, Ten are on a different level but any of the other SEC teams are beatable. Miss St looked like out of this world. Their crowd was into it. Sold-out. Blackout. Chanting Eat Shit Pitt. It was weirdly like their Super Bowl. They arent as good as they played. And we arent as bad.

Defense and rebounding are not things you want to be concerned about though.

Kind of cool in a way, but I thought the same thing. It looked more like a conference games against their biggest rival. Maybe the NCAA tournament loss was a factor too.

But good that we actually carry a little juice as an opponent. Wouldn’t have been that way 3 years ago.

I would have picked us to lose that game so I'm not surprised we lost but everything about that game makes it one of the most surprising I've ever seen. I would have thought with a midweek 8:15 local start against a ho-hum brand, the crowd would be half full and it would just be a normal game. Instead, its a blackout. Place jammed to the rafters like Ole Miss is in town. You could feel the energy on TV. And Miss St was playing like they were at a different speed. Just hard to explain. It really felt like they were out hated rival or something and they've been waiting for this game. I dont think it had anything to do with the NCAAT loss. More to do with the manufactured blackout + ranked opponent. Rarely do I feel like this, but when it was like 4-0, I thought we have nl chance. Something didn't feel right.

I do think it's true that they used that tournament loss for extra motivation. They definitely played their best game and they will have a very hard time reaching that level again regardless of the opponent.

It's basketball. Obviously, anybody can have an off night. However, Pitt's frontcourt just doesn't matchup with Miss State's. Huge mismatch. It's a weakness & it's going to be all year. Half of the SEC just has considerably more talent than Pitt. And no, Tennessee isn't on par with Auburn or Alabama. Tennessee might be the 4th or 5th best team in the conference. They haven't played any top shelf competition yet. They have played Louisville, UVA, Baylor, & Syracuse. This time last year they had played Wisconsin, Syracuse, Kansas, Purdue, UNC, and Illinois.
