If the city cared, they would ban the concerts. They make too much money to care, so why should anybody else? They clean it up and the sun rises the next day. Who cares.

The idea that something as trivial (and frequent) as this made national news is more an indictment of A) the lazy media and B) very little else to write about over a holiday weekend.
The inclusion of a stadium in Oakland comment is laughable.
Maybe next year they can all wear pig snout masks. This is one issue Peduto is right about. Going to an event and drinking isn't a license to trash a city.
So the lot owners profited, the party-goers paid for it, what's everyone so upset about?
They charged something like $20 more to park for the Chesney concert than the Joel concert at PNC the night before. They aren't dummies. They knew what was coming with each crowd and priced accordingly.
As long as the lot owners paid for the cleanup and nothing was damaged and no one got hurt I guess all is well.
That doesn't change the fact that this sort of behavior is totally disgusting. And since it happens every year I assume it is premeditated mayhem.
I read some articles saying it wasn't as bad as last year but when I left Gold 1 was a disgusting mess.

It is disgusting and despicable behavior. Doesn't matter if it is going to be cleaned up, people simply shouldn't act like that.
I wonder how the reaction would have been if this happened at the Beyoncé concert. I doubt there would be multiple people blaming the city and excusing the behavior like there are on social media and the ppg.

37 hospitalized around 20 arrested ...tons of trash...lousy music... I wouldn't be caught dead at one of these hillbilly fests...been to tons of shows and never seen anything as stupid as what happens annually with Chesney... It's an ahole magnet.

The thing that makes it that much worse is that when people pulled into the parking lots they handed them two trash bags, one for "regular" garbage and one for recyclables. How pathetic do you have to be to not even bother to put your trash in a bag when someone has given you the bag?
Word on the street is that many used the recyclable bags for urine in the belief that if Old Milwaukee was good the first time around it couldn't get worse after its impurities were removed.
All parties involved seem to be comfortable with the mess so I guess it's okay but it's really sad.

I work in north shore, lots clean, not a red solo cup in sight. Amazing, all this uproar over nothing.. couple people shot over on 7th avenue, blood stains still on street. but no one cares about that. Just as long as we focus on these Damn plastic red cups destroying our city..
you want redneck, go to a David Allen Coe concert. fans at this show put these teenage kids to shame. Talk about being a pilgrim in unholy land. Absolutely loved it yet was actually worried for my safety. It's something you have to do once in your life but never twice..
Imagine a skynard/allman bros show, take the top 10% of the redneck fans at this show, now put them all in a much smaller venue, add in racist-hard core country lyrics, give them more whiskey to fuel their emotions and hope for the best. That is a david allen coe concert..

it happens every Saturday in every college town in America, at every frat party.. Why do kids act foolish when they drink alcohol? Gee pittguy, I don't know but I'm sure no one has ever asked this question before.
Does that mean it should be excused? Generally even at a frat those kids go out and clean up the yard the next day if it is trashed. They certainly don't just leave it there.
Honestly, Chesney should be banned from coming back here. Enough is enough.
you want to ban a concert that brings 40k fans to Heinz? Might as well ban any and all events that have tailgating. Such an easy fix to "curb" this but simple minded approach is to just ban him, ban everything while we are at it..
Been going to concerts since I was 11?? Again... Never seen stupidity like that... At 11..14..17..23..40..etc...only show I ever saw trash even remotely close to that was DMB shows ...and that still didn't touch this...best behaved fans I've ever seen ? Zappa and Rush...probably every other show including Smashing Pumpkins..Jesus Lizard..Helmet..Vai..Kiss .Missing Persons...etc etc.. were probably somewhere in between... That's just rock stuff... Jazz Classical etc need not apply...
went to a traffic concert at Starlake back in the day, don't ask why please, I have no idea. You talk about well behaved, I thought we were at a mourning. Old age and marijuana create a somber atmosphere. All my buddies in high school were going to the dead concert at three rivers, getting ready for the show with drugs, I was too scared to partake so I thought, damn, I need to drink straight liquor to be on same level as them. Great strategy when you are 17, sadly I missed the show.
I once saw Genesis at 3 rivers "Invisible Touch" tour... Now Genesis had some great stuff at one time but that show was so boring I almost fell asleep... One band that surprised the hell out of me was INXS... No shit on their "Kick" tour... They absolutely killed... I was shocked because they were type of band that was pop definitely girl oriented but their playing was great that tour... Another was Duran Duran another misleading girlie type pretty boy band who could actually play. Tori Amos was great live as well... Great backing band...
